Reading to our children is a great way to raise a book lover and it is never too early to start.

Little Edison enjoys flipping a book, looking at the illustrations and sometimes pointing out his favorite items. Although he might not understand what’s going on in the pictures or text, but he has a deep interest in them.

It isn’t uncommon to find him sitting on his own, flipping through the pages and ‘read’ on his own. Cook books, magazines and his Leapfrog LittleTouch Leappad system are his favorites. Sometimes, I will read and explain the actions to him.

Many studies have demonstrated that reading to our children have many priceless benefits. Besides promoting longer attention span and stronger bonding, they learn about colors, shapes, numbers and letters; and discover an expanding chain of knowledge.

The rule of thumb is – make it enjoyable and stress-free!
