Leapfrog Letter Factory
I’m always on the lookout for interesting educational CDs for Little Edison. I’m firmly against too much television viewing for young children, thus I’m very selective in buying these CDs. I want something that teaches and entertains all at once and something that can give me a moment to relax.
Recently, I found another great learning tool for Edison – it’s the Leapfrog Educational DVD series. (Thanks to Nicole for sharing these DVDs with me.)
I’m currently showing him the first part of this DVD series – Letter Factory. In this DVD, children are exposed to all 26 letters of the alphabet and are taught the phonetic pronunciation of each letter. What’s special about the Letter Factory is that it combines the visuals of the letters with the sounds that they make in a very catchy tune.
The other DVDs that I have are Math Circus, Talking Words Factory and Code Words Caper. I’ve yet to watch them.
Little Edison loves the Letter Factory. For the first time, he watched this DVD with me for half an hour, from A to Z. I was surprised. The next day, he brought the DVD to me and said “Frog, open!”. He refers to the frogs – Tad, Lily and Leap in the DVD.
They are highly recommended to preschoolers from 3 to 6 years.

Hi Emily,
Agree. I’ve been letring my little missy watch Letter Factory and she can now recite the sound of the letters A,B,C,D,E..i think it’s a good DVD, which i bought cos many mummy recommended too.
I have yet to start the Talking words, i think after she knows all the letter’s sound, then start with words, else it’s too overwheleming and she may lose interest.
Cheers,
Hi Mico,
I agree. It’s good to start slow, one by one… I saw a lot of mummies buying these DVDs from Amazon, and there are lots of good reviews about them too.
Hi Mummy,
May I know where did you buy the DVD of Leapfrog from? Is it from local, Singapore or also through Amazon? Kindly advice if you have
contact someone selling it at Singapore.
Many thanks:)
Regards

Hi Vivian,
I bought over the Leapfrog DVDs from a friend. You can buy from Amazon or Leapfrog (via CGW or VPost). Alternatively, I know that a local online store – My Little Ones – is also selling these DVDs.
Hi Emily,
Sure thank you for the info
May I know is it most of the players here can play region code 1 DVD?
I am worried that once I buy the Leapfrog DVDs then my player cant play
then i have to buy another new DVD player
Hi Emily ,
Mind to share the review of Leapfrog , word world and Baby TV ?
which one is the best for 2-3 years old toddler ?
Thanks !
Hi sxmum,
I have not heard of Word World. Between Leapfrog and Baby TV, my son prefers Leapfrog. He is going crazy over Letter Factory now. The length of the DVD is about half an hour, and sometimes he watch it 3 times a day! This is insane!
We retrain his daily TV watching time to 1hr or less now, so that he won’t get addicted. Leapfrog is about phonics, alphabets and words. Baby TV has a wider scope – colours, shapes, animals etc. Both are also suitable for a 2-3 years toddler.
Why not you buy one of each to try out first before you consider buying the whole series?
