I’m always on the lookout for interesting educational CDs for Little Edison. I’m firmly against too much television viewing for young children, thus I’m very selective in buying these CDs. I want something that teaches and entertains all at once and something that can give me a moment to relax.

Recently, I found another great learning tool for Edison – it’s the Leapfrog Educational DVD series. (Thanks to Nicole for sharing these DVDs with me.)

letter factoryI’m currently showing him the first part of this DVD series – Letter Factory. In this DVD, children are exposed to all 26 letters of the alphabet and are taught the phonetic pronunciation of each letter. What’s special about the Letter Factory is that it combines the visuals of the letters with the sounds that they make in a very catchy tune.

The other DVDs that I have are Math Circus, Talking Words Factory and Code Words Caper. I’ve yet to watch them.

Little Edison loves the Letter Factory. For the first time, he watched this DVD with me for half an hour, from A to Z. I was surprised. The next day, he brought the DVD to me and said “Frog, open!”. He refers to the frogs – Tad, Lily and Leap in the DVD.

They are highly recommended to preschoolers from 3 to 6 years.
