Happy New Year

Wishing all of you a very Happy New Year! With hardly a few hours left in 2009, all of us are all set and geared up to welcome Year 2010 with great enthusiasm. I hope that the New Year will bring more opportunities, prosperity and definitely – the end of recession!

Looking back on 2009, it’s a year to remember and it’s a year to learn from our mistakes. For the past few days, I’ve been thinking back and listing what I thought the highs and the lows were. There were many moments that make me smile, and I’m going to write them down chronologically.

January – It’s the brand new start of year 2009, as well as the Chinese Lunar Year. Little Edison was 16 months, and he was developing at an amazing speed. He was a lot more sociable and he enjoyed exploring the world and interacting with people.

February – 2009 has been a tough year for many of us. Closure, lay-offs and pay-cuts were norm for many businesses. My company implemented 4-days workweek in order to cut operating costs and avoid lay-offs. There were so many uncertainties during these economic hard times. I’m thankful that I’m still employed.

April – We were busy struggling with Little Edison’s food strike and tantrums this month. His sudden loss of appetite puzzled all of us. We brought him to the pediatrician twice and we fed him with syrup to stimulate his appetite. It took about 3 weeks for him to recover to his usual eating habits, and we noticed that he lost some weight too.

May – We made a trip to my hometown in Ipoh, Malaysia this month. A nice family gathering and Little Edison had a great time with his cousins – Jaynie and Jaerone. I’ve always missed my parents and siblings, I wish that I can spend more time with them.

July – Little Edison was 22 months and he was more independent in many areas. He has mastered a broad range of physical skills such as throwing, catching, running, kicking, climbing and balancing. He was as active as an Energizer Rabbit. Simply unstoppable.

September – It was Little Edison’s second birthday! From a tiny little baby two years ago, he has blossomed into a cheerful and happy kid. He continues to inspire me to be the best mom that I can be.

November – It was my birthday month. I’m thankful that I married someone who supported me in all aspects of my life. He stood by me when things were bad, and he has been a constant joy in my life. Without him, I will not be who I am today.

December – Coming to the end of year 2009, I have too much to be thankful for – my husband and son who bring me happiness and joy, my parents who love me and give me guidance all these years, my parents-in-law who take great care of me, my siblings & brother-in-law who are my constant support and not forgetting my friends who stand by me no matter what my choices are.

On the whole, 2009 is an awesome year for me. I’m looking forward to 2010 and the challenges and opportunities it will bring.

My wishes for everyone of you – Great Start for Jan, Love for Feb, Peace for March, Happiness for April, Fun for May, Joy for June, Good Health for July, Good Luck for August to Nov and Success for Dec. Happy New Year and Have a Wonderful 2010!
