Not many people know that I like picnicking. It is fun, whether at the beach or in a park at a local attraction. We used to picnic quite often when Little Edison was much younger. However, this activity has slowed down this year due to our busy schedules.
Our first picnic attempt was at the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden. We packed all our food nicely in a picnic basket, we brought a big picnic mat and we were all prepared for a leisurely day out in the sun.
It was a great outing, except one careless mistake that I made. I landed my butts on a colony of ants, which resulted in me being attacked by them! After this incident, I become extra careful in choosing the right location before I lay my picnic mat.
Besides Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden, we also tried picnicking at East Coast Park and Sentosa. Both of them are ideal locations for picnic, except that it can be quite challenging to find a car park space at East Coast Park during the weekend.
Marina Barrage was opened in year 2008, and it’s another exciting venue for picnicking. There is a large open space for the kids to run, fun water play area and a huge open ground for picnic and kite-flying.
This coming October, U Family invites families and picnic fans to a revelry-filled evening of unique local flavours and tastes, games and entertainment, at the scenic roof garden Marina Barrage.
Key activities at the U Picnic event include (at the Marina Barrage on 6 October 2012):
Children will get a chance to participate in the record-setting Mass Freeze Frame. The child who holds the pose without moving for the longest time wins.
Various on-site contests on event day for families, such as Best Dressed Family Contest, “Best Family Moments” Photograph Contest, Best Picnic Display and U Picnic Family Challenge.
