Are you crazy about uniquely-styled pens in variety of colours, that every time you see them in the store, you’ll immediately buy them and add into your collections, and then excitedly writing away?
I’m just one of them. I love to write, and I’ve a very soft spot for pens, ink and papers. My writing does not have to make sense all the time, but what matters is that I write. I write down whatever ideas or important notes that pops out in my mind, before they’re completely forgotten.
Every morning, I start my work in the office with a blank piece of paper. I read my e-mails and I write down the important tasks that I need to complete within the day on a paper. Then, I plan my work and write it down again. Without that piece of paper, I’m literally lost and I’ll possibly miss out certain things that I need to follow-up at the later part of my day.
What factors do you usually consider in choosing a pen?
As for me, I need a pen that writes smoothly, have various colour options, and preferably with a clicker (without a pen cap) because I tend to misplace it.
I’m more of a visual person. So, I like to write in a variety of colours that gives me a different perspective. In between my writing, I like to draw images, diagrams and charts. I can’t survive with just one colour. Else, our life will simply be too boring. Isn’t it?
Recently, the kind people at Pilot Pen Singapore sent me their latest product Pilot FriXion Clicker pens for review and I was truly excited. The pens met all my requirements above – and on top of that, it has a unique erasable ink!
They write smoothly
They are available in seven vibrant colours
They come with a clicker – with an easy sliding mechanism
The ink is erasable! (extra bonus point!)
Seriously, this is the first time I heard about erasable ink. All along, I thought only pencils can be erased but not pens. This is certainly something new to me. How does it work?
The secret lies in the ink! The pen uses a thermo-sensitive ink that allows writing to be done and erased cleanly by friction with the same pen. The ink simply vanishes when I erase it using the rubber stud at the end of the pen. The ink can be erased swiftly and effortlessly, without putting too much force.
When we rub the rubber stud on the ink, it creates heat. When the temperature reaches 60 degree C, the ‘smart’ ink becomes colourless, and that’s how it will be erased without leaving any residues.
So, I happily introduced these fabulous pens to Little Edison, who often make a mess in his workbooks and drawings with his massive erasing works. He often get frustrated when he’s unable to erase the ink, and then he’ll shoot me with his million-dollar question of “Why I can’t erase the ink with my eraser?!” Sometimes, the poor boy even tears the paper when he erases too forcefully.
With Pilot FriXion Clicker, I’m glad that I have a solution for him now. They have since become his favourite pens too, simply because the pens are very easy to use. All he needs to do is to click, write, erase and rewrite. No more tearing of papers. No more frustrations. And no more tears!
The Pilot FriXion Clicker comes in seven vibrant colours – black, red, dark blue, light blue, green, violet and pink – and they are available in all major bookstores. The retail price is S$2.80 (before GST), and I think it’s pretty reasonable for a good quality pen like this.
With Pilot FriXion Clicker, we’ll never worry about making a mistake again!
