NIVEA is a skincare brand that is well-known across the globe, and I’ve been using their products on and off for more than ten years now. Recently, I was invited to review their new product – NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum with SPF 25 PA++, and share my 14-day efficacy user experience.
Coincidentally, I’m always a sucker for any product that claims “whitening” effect. In addition, my skin has been dry recently, and I noticed a lot of pigmentations on my legs and arms too. So, without much hesitation, I accepted their offer.

Serum vs. Moisturizer
Before I introduce the product any further, let me ask you a question. Do you know what the difference between a serum and a moisturizer is? Since this product is a ‘serum’ (not a regular moisturizer), it’s crucial to understand the differences so you’ll know what’s better for your skin.
The main reason we want to use a serum is to get added nutrients into deeper layers of our skin that a regular moisturizer is not able to reach. A moisturizer has larger molecules than a serum. This means that a moisturizer will not penetrate the skin as far as a serum will. While serums deposit nutrients, moisturizers are meant to deposit moisture and hydration to our skin.
Talking about the nutrients now, NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum is enriched with natural Vitamin C from Camu Camu and 95% Pure Vitamin C to penetrate deeply and restore accumulated sun-damaged skin cells, and lighten dull and dark skin. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that reduces melanin production and hence lightens skin naturally.
What is Camu Camu, you may ask. It’s the name of a bush which grows in the Amazonian rain forest of Peru, and it produces a fruit with the same name which contains more Vitamin C than any other known plant in the world.
Benefits of Serum
By now, you should know that a serum has better absorption power, and it’s packed with nutrients and concentrated ingredients. The third thing about serum is that it is more lightweight than a moisturizer, which is definitely good news to me.
