Introducing: NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum with SPF 25 PA++

NIVEA is a skincare brand that is well-known across the globe, and I’ve been using their products on and off for more than ten years now. Recently, I was invited to review their new product – NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum with SPF 25 PA++, and share my 14-day efficacy user experience.

Coincidentally, I’m always a sucker for any product that claims “whitening” effect. In addition, my skin has been dry recently, and I noticed a lot of pigmentations on my legs and arms too. So, without much hesitation, I accepted their offer.

I’m 30-something, and my skin is starting to show signs of sun damage listed above – patchy dryness particularly on my legs, lost of radiance and glow, pigmentation, and more often than not, it’s looking a bit dull too.

I blame it on aging and the lack of time to take care of my body. I moisturized when I could remember, but obviously, this didn’t happen very often. When I go out in the sun, I try my best to apply UV protection on my face, but my body is often neglected.

Well, age is a funny thing. When I was young and had plenty of time, my skin was great and I didn’t need to pay much attention to it. Now that my age is catching up, my life is so hectic that less time is being spent on my face, worst on my body. And all the signs of sun damage skin are surfacing.

And age is not forgiving too. It’s painful to realize that the youthfulness and firmness that I once had are disappearing rapidly, and replaced by fine lines, pigmentation and dullness. Suddenly, taking care of my body becomes a priority to me now.

So, I’m glad to be given the opportunity to try out the NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum with SPF 25 PA++. And I’ve been buttering myself with the serum every day since I received it.

Serum vs. Moisturizer

Before I introduce the product any further, let me ask you a question. Do you know what the difference between a serum and a moisturizer is? Since this product is a ‘serum’ (not a regular moisturizer), it’s crucial to understand the differences so you’ll know what’s better for your skin.

The main reason we want to use a serum is to get added nutrients into deeper layers of our skin that a regular moisturizer is not able to reach. A moisturizer has larger molecules than a serum. This means that a moisturizer will not penetrate the skin as far as a serum will. While serums deposit nutrients, moisturizers are meant to deposit moisture and hydration to our skin.

Talking about the nutrients now, NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum is enriched with natural Vitamin C from Camu Camu and 95% Pure Vitamin C to penetrate deeply and restore accumulated sun-damaged skin cells, and lighten dull and dark skin. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that reduces melanin production and hence lightens skin naturally.

What is Camu Camu, you may ask. It’s the name of a bush which grows in the Amazonian rain forest of Peru, and it produces a fruit with the same name which contains more Vitamin C than any other known plant in the world.

Benefits of Serum

By now, you should know that a serum has better absorption power, and it’s packed with nutrients and concentrated ingredients. The third thing about serum is that it is more lightweight than a moisturizer, which is definitely good news to me.

Frankly, I’ve nearly zero tolerance for greasiness and stickiness on my skin, which is why I seldom apply moisturizer on my body, especially with our humid weather. But when I first squeezed some NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum on my palm, I was quite surprised that it’s actually white, watery and very light!

Last weekend, I went to the River Safari with my family. The weather was insanely hot, and since I’ll be out in the sun all day, I think it’s the perfect opportunity to try out the NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum.

So, I buttered myself with the serum and confidently stepped out in the sun, knowing that I was protected with SPF 25 to prevent sun damage and skin darkening. The serum absorbed quickly into my skin without leaving any greasiness. My skin felt wonderfully soft too. The best thing was, at the end of the day, the serum didn’t leave any sticky feeling on my skin.

After application of NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum, my leg looks smoother and whiter instantly. The serum absorbed wonderfully without leaving any stickiness or greasiness.

I’ve embarked on my 14-day efficacy user experience with NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum to achieve a visibly fairer, smoother and more radiant skin. After the 14 days, I will share my experience with all of you. So, please stay tuned.
