V and Little Edison at the entrance of POLW

Finally, we made it to the latest themed attraction in Sentosa – Port of Lost Wonder. I can’t resist bringing our boy there after reading so many reviews from other parent bloggers. All I got to say is – this is really a place where everyone can share so much fun together!

The nearest car park is Beach Car Park, which is just a short walk from this kids’ club. The car park rates are relatively cheap too, $3 for first 4 hours and $1 per hour thereafter, followed by per entry charge after 5pm.

Managed to find a nice picnic location at The Deck!

Curio coins and our Port Pass

The main attraction here is the Pirate Ship, the main water play area, where kids can splash, climb, run and slide all day long! There is a giant bucket that will tip over every 5 minutes or so, with droplets of water gushing down.

This is Little Edison standing in front of the Pirate Ship, just when the giant bucket started to tipped over!

Next to the Pirate Ship, there is a slightly “milder” water play area. Perfect for toddlers and young children. It’s our boy’s favorite too. He took some time to “warm-up” here before he got the courage to explore the Pirate Ship.

Water Play Area, with water guns etc

When I brought Little Edison to the water playground in Rainforest Kidzworld the first time, I wasn’t prepared to get wet. Then, I realized that it is mission impossible to remain dry as he is still too young to venture on his own. So, I had to get in and watched him.

No matter how hard I try to avoid getting wet, in the end, I was all drenched after a bucket of water splashed on me. And some boys made me their water-gun shooting target after that. :(

This time, I’m fully prepared with my swimming costume and sun block! I went all the way out with Little Edison to explore the Pirate Ship and had lots of fun! It’s worth it!

There is an eatery here – Port Belly, that serves comfort food such as grilled sandwiches, piping-hot pastas and pizzas, as well as savory soups and desserts. Visitors can choose to dine in or have a picnic outdoors at The Deck.

Have a break, I'm so hungry!

I read about the fun bubble party here, but unfortunately, it was not opened on weekdays (so we missed it!). The other attractions here include Curiosity Island, Tree of Wonder, Pots and Planks, Teach us Wild, PlayChute and Play Den. We didn’t have time to explore these attractions as our boy spent the entire afternoon in the water play area until it closed at 6pm.

After 6pm, this place automatically turned into a wonderful port for dining and relaxation. I managed to snap a few pictures of this place after the water play area closed and most of the visitors left.

Freshness

Now that Little Edison attends his Phonics class on Saturday morning, I have a lot of time to do my “marketing” while I wait for his lesson to end.

I have a delectable selection of fresh fruits at Cold Storage every Saturday. I’m loving it! Today, I bought blueberries, apples, oranges and bananas. Now, our family will have more fresh fruits to eat every day.

My Car's Dashboard

On the top of my car’s dashboard, there are three dog plush toys. Due to their light weight, they tend to drop if I accelerate too fast from a stationary position.

Little Edison usually sit on the front passenger seat on his booster seat. He gets rather annoyed every time the dogs drop on him.

Then, he will say, “Mama, I told you not to drive too fast. Drive slowly.”

Some of the drawbacks of being an only child at home are apparent in his behavior, such as, he talks like an adult and he can be quite bossy at times. He wants his favorite music in the car, he complains when the sun is glaring or the air-con is not cool enough, he nags when I drive too fast, etc.

My Newly Started Project 365

I was inspired by Karen from Story of Bing to start my own Project 365. Karen is certainly one of my favorite bloggers. She has awesome photography skills and she does not hesitate to share them on her blog.

Project 365 is basically a-photo-a-day project that is aimed to improve photography skills. There are other variations of this project, i.e. 50-day project, 100-day project or 300-day project; you name it and its there on the internet.

I was on a one-week trial last week, and all I can say is that it’s not as easy as it seems. It requires SERIOUS time commitment to take at least one picture a day. By saying this, it does not mean forcing myself to simply click a button.

My intention is to make a conscious effort each day to take a great picture (although I know that it’s not possible to be perfect all the times). I want to practice it every day and improve my own photography skills.

The result from my one-week trial was not satisfactory. I only managed to shoot three pictures and post one on my blog. I’ve to work a little harder in this photography department. And maybe I should just post once a week by consolidating all seven pictures in one post.

Well, my Project 365 will be a collection of interesting things that I see every day, as well as random funny stuffs about Little Edison.

One afternoon, I brought Little Edison to the playground. It was a beautiful windy afternoon, no rain and no sun. The boy ran around happily, climbing up and down the slides. I was looking for a bench to sit, and I saw this extremely cute dog.

A clean and tiny dog. Just like the ones that rich women have in the movies. I sat next to him, he licked my fingers when I tried to touch him and I giggled. The owner was no-where to be seen.

Little Edison loves the dog so much. He squat down and started “talking” to him. The dog was so gentle, he didn’t bark at all. I thought he was funny, so I took this picture of him.

Yes, that’s right! This has been miserably missing in my life for the past five years. And finally, I watched a great movie this weekend. “I Don’t Know How She Does It” is a sweet comedy about a working mom Kate Reddy (Sarah Jessica Parker), who is trying desperately to juggle it all – her demanding career, raising her two young children and maintaining a healthy marriage.

Kate Reddy is a fund manager for a Boston investment company. She recently landed a big account that requires her to travel frequently, but not without the protest from her family, especially her two children. When she has to spend more time away from her family, her relationships with her kids and husband (Greg Kinnear) suffer even more. Kate’s life begins to get away from her and even with success just on the horizon, she realizes she needs to make decisions to get her life back into balance.

During much of the movie, Kate is like a rat in a maze, hyper stimulated by constantly buzzing cellphones as she dashes back and forth between Boston and New York to pitch a deal related to retirement funds. She has to work doubly hard as her single colleagues are all ready to pounce on her weaknesses.

The story reveals a portion of the female workforce that rarely gets exposure in the modern media – the married mother who balances a demanding career with the responsibilities of raising a family and being available for the spouse.

Personally, I feel that it’s quite a norm that working mothers are perceived as less capable in the working world, especially when they have to attend to family emergencies, sick children, difficulties to travel within short notice, etc.

In this aspect, I’m really blessed to have an understanding boss and that I’m not made to feel guilty when I need to take time-off to attend to family matters. That’s what keeping me here for the past 8.5 years and I’m still looking forward to celebrate my 10th anniversary with this company.

In this movie, we also see Kate’s daughter being upset that her mommy is not always there. I’m not sure how you working moms out there deal with this issue. I’m glad that I don’t need to travel much. Otherwise, I’m very sure that Little Edison will be terribly upset with me.

The ending of this movie is very touching when Kate rediscovers what is dear to her. She ran to her daughter’s school when it starts to snow as she promised her that she will make snowman for her. It’s not the typical happy ending that most viewers will expect where Kate quits her job and everybody lives happily ever after.

When it comes to juggling, as Kate confides, the secret is not how you catch, but how you throw.

In fact, she loves her job so much that she is absolutely unapologetic about it. She promised her husband that she wants to make things work for the family and to be a better wife and mom. I’m sure many of us working mothers can understand exactly how she feels. Not a bitter ending though.

I love this movie, it moved me at times and it made me laugh. I’m sure you’ll also love the smart ladies in this movie too. Very entertaining, and I highly recommend it. Check out the movie’s official website HERE.
