I didn’t know that Jurong Bird Park has a water playground until this advertisement pops out on my blog. Coincidentally, I also saw the 30% off Jurong Bird Park adult and child entry tickets on Deal.com.sg. So, I immediately purchased 3 tickets to bring our boy there for some fun.

We went to Jurong Bird Park last Saturday. It has been raining for the past few days, but we decided to take the risk and proceed with our plan. Spare clothes, towels and umbrellas were all packed up, and we were ready to go!

The journey from our home in the North-East to the Bird Park in the South-West took slightly more than an hour. Thanks to the heavy traffic along PIE, the poor Husband was tearing his hair out in frustration trying to navigate the road traffic.

Alas, we reached the park at 1pm and the weather was still good. Much to my surprise, the parking rate here is amazingly cheap. It’s only $2 per entry, I just couldn’t believe it.

The highlight of this trip is certainly the Birdz of Play – the newly opened water playground. Before we head to the playground, we did a brief visit to the birds in the park. Little Edison was delighted to see the penguins, flamingos and parrots.

Our boy was super excited to see the huge playground and water playground. The dry playground is divided into two sections – one for younger kids 4 years and below, and one for older kids. The water playground is next to it.

After one hour of playtime, we felt a light drizzling rain. So, we stopped our activity and went for a shower. There is a main children shower area, but it is unsheltered. There are also shower rooms in the toilets. The toilets are clean and new. There are also lockers and baby-changing room here.

We went for snacks at the Ben & Jerry outlet – just next to the playground and patiently waiting for the rain to stop. After the rain stopped, we proceed to visit the other attractions in this park. By this time, our boy was so exhausted and fell asleep on his stroller.

All in all, it was a fun day despite the rain. The Birdz of Play is indeed very fun for the kids. I like the park because it is less crowded as compared to the Singapore Zoo. But I also expect that they will have a surge in visitors soon after the opening of Birdz of Play.

Here are some pictures to share:

I love those penguins! So cute!

Colourful parrots…

The flamingos, lots of them!

The highlight – Birdz of Play!

Playground Fun Time!

At the water playground finally – look at his smile!

Slide, Slide, Slide!

Splash, Splash, Splash!

Giant Flamingo… I love Birdz of Play!

I’ve been buying and using skin care products for the last 15 years. And in these years, I seldom bought the same product twice unless it delivers exceptional and long-lasting results. Like any other skin care product junkie, I’m constantly looking to get my fix of new products.

I scour beauty magazines and blogs regularly for new products. I’ll also make a note of any products that have great reviews. Thankfully, in the world of online shopping, almost every product is available online – and with great discounts.

Last weekend when I was tidying up my dressing table, I found five products that I’ve been using faithfully for at least one year now. That is to say – I’ve done a re-purchase on them. What are they? Let’s take a look.

1. b.liv Quench Me Moisturizer

I must admit that I’m not a fan of moisturizer, mainly because I’ve moderately oily skin. I used to skip moisturizer too, in fear that it will turn my face into a grease factory! But soon, I learnt that if I don’t moisturize my skin, it will produce more oil in an effort to hydrate itself.

b.liv quench me is the most lightweight moisturizer I’ve ever used. It leaves a silky and smooth finish on the skin – without any oily residue. And it keeps my skin moisturized all day!

2. Clarins Pore-Minimizing Serum

Do not expect that pores will vanish instantly with this product. However, it does make them less noticeable. It also controls oil and allow make-up to stay on longer without the need to blot my face especially on long days.

3. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair

This award-winning serum is one of the few anti-wrinkle serums that live up to the hype. It goes on easily, aids in the absorption of the moisturizer that follows and makes a noticeable difference in fine lines and wrinkles. The texture of my skin is very much improved with its use. Its price tag may be somewhat daunting, but I don’t mind paying extra for a product that works for me.

4. Kose Mask White

I’ve been using this mask for the longest time now and it’s still the best! It effectively unclogs pores, removes dirt and impurities to reveal a thoroughly clean skin. With regular use, it will dramatically increase skin’s clarity and radiance too.

I use this mask once a week at night. After the mask, I smooth on a generous amount of SK-II facial treatment essence, Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair and moisturizer. I wake up with smooth and radiant skin in the morning!

5. SK-II Facial Treatment Essence

This essence has been the “heart” of my skincare ritual for the past three years. It moisturizes, rejuvenates and balances the skin. Not to be skipped, no matter how tired I am.

Recently, I started on a new product too. It’s the LAC Taut® Collagen Drink from GNC and I’m quite confident that it will work for me. (Will be back with another review)

Christmas is definitely one of the most wonderful times of the year, especially for children. Coloured lights, sparkling Christmas trees, Christmas cookies and presents can instantly turn a child into a rambunctious bundle of energy.

This is Little Edison, in a spectacularly happy and cheery mode whenever he sees the Christmas decorations in shopping malls and airport. He is fascinated with Christmas tree and he keeps telling me, “Mama, Christmas is coming!”

December is my favourite month of the year. The whole month feels festive and I love the reds and green’s we have everywhere. And I love the year-end sales too!

Dear December, you bring me so many happy memories and things that I look forward to – holiday, Christmas gift shopping, year-end sales, time to catch up with family and friends, AWS etc. Thank you, thank you!

I’m sure most of you, salaried employees out there, are also looking forward to your year-end bonus. Anyone anticipating a big bonus this year? :p

Honestly, I’ll only receive a one-month AWS in December. My company’s performance bonus is paid out in April / May timeframe – we called it profit-sharing. As for my AWS, one quarter of it will be used for paying taxes (sigh), and another quarter of it will go to my car insurance company (sigh again).

The third quarter will go to my savings account and finally, the last quarter for shopping and pampering myself (finally a YES!)

I’m also looking forward to my office shutdown end of this month, and I’ll be bringing Little Edison back to my hometown in Ipoh. I miss my Mom, Dad and siblings too. Little Edison has been telling me that he wants to play with his cousins too.

Have a great December, everyone! :)

I’m a book person. I can’t resist checking out the books on display in other people’s homes or offices. When I was a student, I’d like to check out what my teachers and professors have read. It’s not that I’m trying to understand someone by seeing the books that they read, but I’m just always curious to know what’s on their book shelf.

When I moved to my current apartment five years ago, I threw away my old book shelf and a large number of books. There are still some books that I kept, but they are still packed in boxes in my store room. I don’t have time to read them now, sadly. Career and motherhood have taken up most of my time.

Nonetheless, I still hope that I can set-up my book shelf again, and with my collection of books.

And today, I’m going to show you Little Edison’s mini book shelf. It’s all full now. It’s time for me to hunt for a bigger book shelf for him.

Now, let’s take a closer look.

Top Left – It’s occupied with his stationeries and recently, we bought him two sets of Crayola marker and crayon sets. He loves to draw and colour with them.

Top Right – We have plenty of workbooks, activity books and story books here. I bought most of these Scholastic story books from his school – they are interesting and easy to read for preschoolers. Oh, we have two picture dictionaries too.

Center – I also bought the Basic Chinese 500 books for him, but he is least interested to read them. Honestly, I find them quite boring too. His favourite books are the Dora and Diego Phonics Reading Program. There are ten short story books in a pack, which is good for developing reading skills and identifying words. He likes to read them over and over again.

Bottom Left – Toys.

Bottom Right – I put all his board books and other educational games here – Noddy Fun Book, Smart Tray Spelling Accelerator, Hot Dot Jr. Phonics Fun Game, Thomas & Friends matching puzzle etc.

What’s on your kid’s book shelf? I love to hear from you too! :)
