Buying a gift for our children is easy. There are so many options to choose from – clothing, toys, bags, stationeries, bicycle etc. But if we’re looking for a unique and personalized gift that reflects much more thought and consideration for our loved ones, that is the real challenge.

Recently, I was introduced to a new online store that does just that! Tolalu.com is a new e-commerce online store whose business is all about personalized gifts for children. Every product features our children’s name on it. The store has over 350 products with different themes and designs to choose from.

Tolalu Website

When you first land at Tolalu website, you’ll be greeted with a text box where you need to enter your child’s name. Simply type his or her name, click on the pink “Go” button and you’ll see all the products with your kid’s name engraved on them. It is awesome!

First, I created a name sticker for Little Edison. He loves zoo animals, so I’m pretty sure he will love these stickers too. I can paste these stickers on his water bottle, school workbooks etc. The size of the stickers is 7cm.

The stickers are printed with his full name. For security purpose, I replace them with stars in this picture.

Name sticker measures 7cm – best to be used on books!

Next, I created a placemat for him. This placemat is in A3 size, and it can be used as a table protector when dining or colouring. It is laminated, so it can be easily washed. It fits just nice on Little Edison’s study table.

Placemat in A3 size – thick, laminated and beautiful!

Besides name stickers and placemats, Totalu also has personalized learning materials like numbers, colouring and activity books. You can also find growth charts, story books, note books, puzzles, book marks, wall stickers, calendars and greeting cards here.

There are various themes to choose from – animals, fairies, robots, automotives, ice-cream, melody etc. Great for children of all ages and mommies too!

If you’re looking for a beautifully designed gift that is made with love and special attention to details, please head over to Tolalu.com and try it yourself. There are a lot of sweet gifts here, so I hope you’ll find something that you like.

Apart from the special check-in counters, there is another VIP treatment for the World Club guests. That is the buffet breakfast!

The buffet breakfast for World Club guests will be served at the World Club Lounge located on the 24th floor of Tower 1 and 28th floor of Tower 2. This is a private dining area for World Club guests only.

All the guests from the Standard and Deluxe Rooms will enjoy their buffet breakfast at the First World Café. I heard that the café can be quite crowded especially on peak seasons. There are over 6,000 rooms in First World Hotel, and the amount of guests can easily hit 10,000!

In the exclusive World Club Lounge, you can dine with comfort. The place is very cozy with comfortable sofa seat, wooden flooring and views of the theme parks. However, the food variety is quite limited. You can choose to have your breakfast at the First World Café too, if you don’t mind the crowd.

Buffet Breakfast – noodles, dim sum, pau, rice, porridge etc..

V asked, “Want to eat char siew pau? Not bad la.”

After breakfast, we went to the Jungle Gym – an indoor adventure playground in Genting operated by Pedas Springs. It is very similar to Amazonia in Singapore. The entrance fee is RM28 for two hours. So, our boy had another hour of fun before we returned to our hotel and check-out.

He can never get enough of ball pit!

Climb, climb, climb…

Jump, jump, jump…

My favourite shot! :)

Our coach left Genting at 2pm. After a super tiring 7.5 hours journey, we finally reached our home sweet home at 9:30pm. Nonetheless, it’s still a nice short vacation for us. I truly enjoyed every moment of my time there with V and Little Edison.

Our living room is facing the swimming pool, so Little Edison has been listening to all the excitement and laughter created by the kids playing in the pool area.

When this happens, he will request me to bring him for a dip into the pool – more often now after our recent staycation at Festive Hotel.

There are three swimming pools in our apartment – an adult pool, a Jacuzzi pool and a children’s wading pool. The children’s wading pool is only 0.5m deep, so he can “swim” around easily with a float and with minimal supervision from me.

Usually, there are other children playing in the wading pool. So, he can happily join them. We like to hop over to the Jacuzzi pool too because the water is warmer. The pool is unblocked, so it has direct sunlight. By late afternoon, the water in the Jacuzzi pool is so warm and nice!

Now, I’m wondering what the ideal age to start joining swimming lessons is. In fact, there are a few swimming instructors in our apartment. So, it’s quite convenient to enroll him. Maybe Year 2013 will be a good time to start. What do you think? :)

Disneyland meets Las Vegas but on a smaller scale – that’s how people describe it on the internet. Personally, I find that it’s not so much of Disneyland here (no Disney characters at all!) but only rides. Las Vegas? Maybe. There are two casinos over here.

After having a hearty breakfast at the World Club Lounge, we went to the Outdoor Theme Park. We bought the all-parks one day unlimited ride passes. The main entrance to the theme park is located just beside the Theme Park Hotel.

Our first ride was the Double Deck Carousel. This is a family ride with no height limit. Our boy rode on this fancy carousel over and over again. The best thing is that there wasn’t any crowd. So, we can remain in the carousel as long as we want, without the need to exit and join the queue again.

Double Deck Carousel, can you spot us on the upper deck?

While we were having fun at the carousel, V went for a whirlwind adventure on the Spinner.

The Spinner

Just a few walks from the Spinner, there is a Beryl’s Chocolate Wonderland where colourful chocolate processing simply bursts before your eyes. Then, we proceed to another family ride called Astro Fighter. V and I took our turn to go on this ride with Little Edison.

Next to Astro Fighter, you can see the Rodeo Rider. Similar to the popular adult thrill ride Space Shot, this is a vertical ascent and descent thrill ride but on a slower speed for children. Little Edison wasn’t keen to try; I bet he was scared of the height.

Rodeo Rider. That’s not our boy in this picture!

There is a Koi fish pond besides the Flying Jumbo ride. Fish food is sold for RM3 per pack. Our boy enjoyed feeding them. After the fish-feeding, we proceed to the Monorail. It was such a delightful train ride offering a scenic view of the lake and the entire outdoor theme park.

Koi fish pond, feel free to feed them!

Monorail, nice one :)

Our boy spotted a children playground and he ran towards it happily. The weather was cool, naturally breezy and sometimes sunny in the early afternoon. There are also various game stalls in the outdoor theme park. You have to buy tokens in order to play at these stalls.

Games stalls like this are everywhere in the theme park!

We were interested to try out the boat ride on the lake. However, our boy didn’t meet the minimum height requirement – so V went ahead with the boat ride while Little Edison and I waited for him at the resting area.

Boating Area

We tried many of the family rides but not the thrill rides. The main reason is because Little Edison is too young for these rides and I’m probably too “old” for them. Haha! V said it was no fun to go on the thrill rides alone but I can’t possibly leave Little Edison alone to join him. So, at the end, we gave those thrill rides a MISS.

Here are some pictures taken in the Outdoor Theme Park:

Antique Train – boring stuff :(

We left the place at about 3pm after our boy fell asleep on his stroller. We took a slow walk back to our hotel. As soon as we reached our room, it started to rain heavily. All the rides will be closed because of the rain, sadly. We haven’t visited the Water Park yet.

After taking our shower and briefly recharged, we went out again to the Indoor Theme Park. It’s much smaller than the Outdoor Theme Park and it’s located at the First World Plaza. There are many family and children rides here, i.e. Ferris Wheel, Reindeer Cruiser, Mini Train and Rio Float.

The most interesting ride that you shouldn’t miss in the Indoor Theme Park is the Ride de Paris. You can see a small scale of Paris Eiffel Tower here with mini cars ride around the tower. The mini cars are only for children, so we let our boy enjoyed the car ride all by himself. There is another musical carousel in the Indoor Theme Park too.

Ride de Paris – his favourite! :)

All in all, Little Edison had a day full of fun at the theme parks. V and I were overjoyed having so much fun with him too.

We reached the bus terminal in Genting Highlands at 3:30pm. The moment I alight from the coach, I felt the cold wind whip at my hair. So, I quickly took our boy’s jacket from the bag and put it on to keep him warm. Then, we took a slow walk to our hotel lobby.

Half an hour later, we arrived at our hotel room. It was so spacious and our boy was simply fascinated. Instead of taking his afternoon nap, he was literally running and jumping around in the room. We unpacked our luggage, took a shower and ready to go out for an early dinner.

We’ve been so hungry because we had our lunch in a rush when the coach stopped at Yong Peng. We planned to try out the buffet dinner at Coffee Terrace in Genting Hotel. It was highly recommended by V’s colleagues. The buffet dinner starts at 5pm, and the time was just right!

Genting Hotel is about 10 to 15 minutes walk from our hotel through a covered walkway. Little Edison fell asleep on his stroller while we were walking to Coffee Terrace. So, we had some quiet moments to enjoy our dinner before he woke up an hour later.

Coffee Terrace is one of the most popular dining options in Genting, serving a special mix of local as well as international delicacies. It has a massive seating capacity, nice ambience and a team of friendly staffs that greeted us with a smile the moment we stepped in.

Its menu is truly extensive, with a wide variety of delicacies that are categorized into six specialties namely:

  • Local Favourites – char kway teow, assam laksa, curry, Ipoh hor fun, ice kacang, Hainanese chicken rice, etc.
  • Nyonya – Nyonya fish head curry, soup, spice chicken, mango kerabu, etc
  • Japanese – Salmon sashimi, sushi, miso, chicken teriyaki, tempura, fresh Korean oysters, etc.
  • Western – grilled steak, salmon, pasta, soup, buttered vegetables, salad etc.
  • Chinese – la mien, dim sum, stir-fry vegetables with mushroom, soup, dumplings, etc
  • Western Asian – this is more like Indian food to me – chicken tandoori, biryani rice, papadum, roti prata etc.

The Japanese Kitchen is our favourite!

Star Dish of the Day – fresh Korean oysters!

There is also a wide variety of cakes, pastries, ice-cream and fruits. For just RM71 per pax (after tax), I find that it’s really value for money. Definitely one of the best buffets I’ve ever had too!

A variety of pastries…

and cakes too…
