I grew up in a family of 3 children, and we never had much money for toys. My siblings and I used to play with paper dolls, marbles, stones, bottle caps and whatever unused items at home that we turned them into toys.
Time has changed. Little Edison is my only son and he has toys enough for 10 children! It is crazy, I tell you.
Kids generally play with toys and leave them here and there. The same goes to Little Edison, except for a few toy cars that he cherishes and he will arrange them nicely before he goes to sleep. We’re lucky to have a helper to do the clean-up every night; otherwise it will be a real nightmare to me.
Nonetheless, I realized that it’s time to get them organized. I want to discard some of the worn-out toys, keep away toys that he has outgrown, figure out a place to store them, buy some proper storage boxes and start sorting out all his toys.
I went to Ikea to look for toy storage boxes and I found this – Kusiner mesh basket with lid. It’s great because we can see what’s inside the basket through the net. So, I bought them to store our toys. I organize his toys into three main groups – outdoor & water play, action figures & cars and soft toys & all others. That will be one basket for each group.
Next, I worked on the bigger toys. I always have this habit of keeping the boxes of big toys in my store after opening them. Now, I will dismantle the big toys and keep them in their own boxes. The biggest challenge was to dismantle the giant Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo. Apparently, the instruction manual only teaches us how to assemble the Jumperoo.
With lots of patience, I started to dismantle it part by part. I cleaned them, packed them into separate bags and finally, put them all into the big box. Sealed and kept in the store. I bought this Jumperoo in Dec 2007 and it served us well for the past two years. I can still remember vividly the excitement in Little Edison when he was jumping in it. But now, he doesn’t want play with it anymore.

After all the hard works, I realized that I need to follow-up periodically, go through his toys and maintain some amount of order to prevent build-up of toys again. Daddy V commented that the BEST way to prevent it is to STOP buying toys. He may be right, but when the shopaholic in me strikes again, I tend to forget and shop again.
Mommies, how do you manage your children’s outgrown toys? Any tips to share?

When I read about this product for the first time in Cindy’s blog, I was so tempted to try it. But unfortunately, it was not available in Singapore at that time.
A week ago, I read about it again on Today newspaper. Hada Labo is launching its products in Singapore finally, and exclusively at Watsons stores. The name of the product that I’m interested is Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion. Wow, what a long name!
For a quick introduction, here are some quick facts about this renowned Japanese skincare brand:
1. Its star product, Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion, is so popular in Japan that a bottle is sold in every four seconds!
2. It is developed by Rhoto-Mentholatum, a pharmaceutical company that specializes in eye medication.
Here is how I use this lotion:
1. Sprinkle 3 – 4 drops onto my palm. Apply the lotion onto my face using my fingers (without using facial cotton). Some users reported that they only use 2 drops.
2. Gently pat my skin using the palms of my hands, starting from my cheeks, forehead, chin and finally my nose.
3. At this point, it does feel a little sticky (but not to worry).
4. Keep patting until the lotion is fully absorbed into the skin.
5. My skin feels so moisturized and dewy when the lotion is fully absorbed.
6. Follow-up with my moisturizer. Sometimes, I skip the moisturizer and I apply my make-up base straight away.
This product really promises an instantly hydrated, soft, supple and silky smooth skin.
Watch this short video for the application technique. Seriously, you really don’t have to slap your face so hard, like what the model did in the video. Just a light patting will do. The texture of this lotion is slightly viscous, not as watery as our toner. Thus, it takes a little while to dry completely on our skin.
Some users in the forum commented that they feel stickiness on their face during the application. Well, yes, it can be quite sticky when it is still wet. That’s why we need to pat in on our face so that it can be absorbed thoroughly. When it dries up, it feels just nice – not sticky anymore!

What’s good about this lotion? It has no additives, colorants, fragrance or mineral oil, it is very moisturizing and best of all, it is very affordable too ($22.90).
-
What’s not-so-good about this lotion? It takes a slightly longer time to absorb.
If you are keen to try, you can get your free samples HERE. For the complete range of products from Hada Labo, you can visit their official website HERE. For pricing information, please click HERE.
If you are already using this lotion, let me know how you feel about this product. I love to hear from you!

Yay! Finally a brand new look.
After a sleepless night and many brain cells being killed in the process, I’ve finally installed a brand new theme for OurLittleSmarties. Here we are now – back to a 3-column blogger-style theme!
Suffusion is a beautiful Wordpress theme, I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. Simple, yet it can be easily customized to suit the user’s requirements.
The interesting feature about this theme is the featured content slider – a section below the header that flashes the top most recent posts. However, I still can’t get it up and running on my blog. I still need a little more time to fix it.
In addition, I’ve installed the LinkWithin plugin. Again, it doesn’t seem to work well too. Argh, I need to check it out.
There are some bit and pieces that I need to modify this week. I want to update all the pictures in my blog as they are really super outdated. I guess by this weekend, I should be able to complete them. Once and for all (hopefully!)
Anyway, I hope you’ll like this new theme. I’ve an interesting beauty product to share with you tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Hi Readers,
This blog will be down for couple of days for upgrading and theme change.
I’m currently installing a fresh new theme, but OH, there are so many settings and customizations need to be done. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, I hope I won’t kill my blog.
I’ll be back real soon.

Little Edison: “Mommy, can we put our heads together and solve this?”
He was stuck for a while with piece #6, and then I gave him a clue. He thought about it and he finally found the answer. Then, we moved on to piece #7.
Little Edison enjoys playing with his Noddy Fun Book because the game challenges his mind. Every single piece requires him to think, reason and develop understanding of concepts in order to complete the game. He has completed most of the Level 1 games and now moving on to Level 2.
By putting the pieces together, he will also work on his hand-eye-coordination. I love to buy educational games and puzzles for him as I believe they are the best developmental toys for a 3 year-old.
