Parenting

While it is true that there is no single definition or correct method of raising a child, a few parenting tips could go a long way in ensuring our child’s happiness. And we, parents, need a little advice now and then.

Thus, I’m glad to use this blog as a platform to share good parenting tips from my own experience or from the wisdom of other moms.

1. 8 Ways to Prepare Your Child for Primary One
I’d like to emphasize that preparation for Primary One does not require a major effort. In fact the simpler and more relaxed the process is, the easier and more relaxed it will be for your child.

2. 6 Ways to Stop Yelling at Your Kids
In my parenting journey, one of my biggest battles was yelling. A lot of times, it’s hard to keep our cool – I’m sure you’ll agree to this too. I vowed to change that, and I’m glad I did.

“If it isn’t life threatening, if the house is not ablaze, if it is not an emergency, or if the child you are yelling to is not half a mile away, then yelling is the wrong choice in parenting.”  Anonymous

5. Potty Training Our Toddlers
Potty training can be a daunting task, especially for first-time parents. When we do a google search on this topic, there are at least 101 articles on potty training tips and advices. The more we read; the more confusion we have. I’m sharing my own potty training tips based on my experience.

6. Encourage Our Children to Read
There is a saying that literacy starts at home. I believe that children who are exposed to literacy at home are more likely to appreciate books and reading. Here are some of the things that I do to encourage Edison to read.

7. Children’s Birthday Cakes
Birthday cake is always the center of attraction in a birthday party. Here is a list of bakery shops in Singapore with wonderful children birthday cakes to choose from.

8. Essential Basic Remedies for Minor Ailments
Being a parent is never easy. One day, we are a doctor, diagnosing the pain in our children. The next day, we are a nurse, administering the appropriate medicine to them. These are the ten must-have items in my first aid kit.

9. Towards a Guilt-Free Motherhood Part 1 | Part 2
Before I have Little Edison, I had no idea that being a mother would involve carrying around a huge sack of guilt. A totally unnecessary sack of guilt – no matter how hard I try to avoid, it still creeps stealthily towards me. After five years, I’m still trying hard to find that equilibrium.
