Pleasant Experience with Polyclinic

Singhealth Polyclinic SengkangLast Friday, I bought little Edison to Sengkang Polyclinic for his MMR vaccination. MMR should be taken at 15 months, but I choose to delay it till 18 months.

It was my first visit to a polyclinic. Contrary to popular belief of lengthy waiting time, I had a pleasant experience with the entire process from registration, consultation, vaccination to payment and pharmacy at Sengkang Polyclinic.

Sengkang Polyclinic is conveniently located next to the Sengkang MRT station and bus interchange. Before my visit, I called their hotline to enquire about the procedure. Basically, we have to walk-in for our first visit. For subsequent visits, we can make an appointment to shorten our waiting time.

With appointments, we can do a self-registration and proceed directly to the service point without queuing at the registration area. It’s a pretty hassle-free process. What amazed me is their Queue Watch system that publishes real-time information on the estimated waiting time and number of patients in queue. Amazing, isn’t it?

We reached the polyclinic at 1:45pm and I registered little Edison in just 15mins. Next, we visited a medical doctor for the 18-months routine check-up. A young and handsome doctor gave little Edison a check and prescribed some medication for his constipation.

Then, we proceed to the vaccination room. We were attended by a friendly staff nurse for the MMR vaccination. Poor little Edison cried when he felt the painful and stinging jab in his arm. Big tears rolled down his chubby cheeks. Sobz πŸ™

We walked out of the room and had a sweet surprise. My FIL was sitting outside the room, waiting for us. He immediately gave Edison a comforting hug to ease his pain. My FIL is really a 24/7 grandfather. He drove all the way to Sengkang to fetch us home. *So touched!* πŸ™‚

We left the polyclinic at 3:15pm. The entire process took us about 1.5 hours. It’s worth the wait because my final bill came up to $6 only! The MMR is free; I’m paying $6 for the medicine and consultation. Our next appointment will be in mid April for his DPT/DT – 1st Booster.

Now that I’m off on Fridays, I’ll definitely spend more time with my son. Oh, it’s Friday again today. I’m planning to go shopping with Edison. Hooray! πŸ™‚
