I like my mother-in-law.

Yes, you read that right! I like my mother-in-law. Is she perfect? Nope, but I’m not perfect either.

When others are complaining about their annoying and interfering mother-in-law, I find myself enjoying the relationship with my mother-in-law. I count myself lucky!

I guess the reason is simple – we have something in common. We share a love for my husband (her son) and our Little Edison. We get along well, and we respect each other.

My mother-in-law is a survivor of nose cancer. Not only did she survive, but she prevailed. She learned to be a fighter; fighting for her own life for years. She raised two kids on her own despite all the financial difficulties that she faced years ago. She is a woman full of wisdom, compassion and love.

I’m most grateful to her being the caregiver of little Edison when I’m at work. She takes this enormous responsibility with pride and provides him with complete attention and unconditional love. I can feel the strong bond between her and little Edison.

Having said this, I realized that Mother’s Day is quick approaching. I thought of giving her a sweet surprise today. I ordered a gift from Noel Gift and have it delivered to her house this afternoon. I hope that she will like it.

I’m not naive enough to think that every marriage will always be full of light for the in-laws. There may be some family histories that make it impossible to have any relationship that is not strained.

However, in order to make this happens, we owe it to ourselves, our spouse and our kids to make the effort. It isn’t always easy but it is possible!

This is my mother-in-law. In her 60s, but she still looks good and youthful.

Its very very touching and heart warming to read this posting.

To be very honest, actually we (Dad, Mum and myself) are also very fortunate to have you as part of our Family Tree.

Together, we will stay close to fend the harsh wind and usher in a good harvest.
