Edison’s 5th Birthday Party at School

September 27, 2012September 27, 2012

Two weeks ago, we held a birthday party for Little Edison at his school. Initially, I was very tempted to forgo his birthday celebration in school this year as we just came back from Hong Kong. Works were piling-up in the office, and we were running short of time for the preparation. In summary, no mood + no time.

But deep down, I know that my son loves celebrating his birthday with his teachers and friends. We did it for the past two years, and he was so delighted. Thus, in order not to disappoint him, we had a simple party at school – with all preparations done in an expedited mode. Phew!

I ordered a chocolate cake from Bengawan Solo. They are the fastest cake house that can deliver the cake among all the shops that I’ve called. The design is pretty interesting, with trains on the cake, and I’m sure our boy will love it.

Next comes the party supplies and treat bags. This year, we’re really thankful to Kitston for sponsoring the party supplies and treat bags for our boy’s birthday party. They came in just in time, the design is lovely in our boy’s favourite green, and the theme is “Feeling the Soccer heat”.

Every year, I vex over what to pack for goodie bags. This year, I assigned the task to the Husband. Then, he disappeared for two hours and came back with a big bag of snacks – lolli pops, jellies, chocolates, sweets, etc. The kids will love him for sure.

These are the treat bags sponsored by Kitston. So beautiful. I added a transparent name sticker on each treat bag to give it a personal touch.

While we were packing our treat bags, we had a chance to talk about how we celebrated our birthdays when we were young. For me, birthday was celebrated at home with my parents and siblings in a low-key manner. I don’t think my parents can afford a big party, but a simple dinner with red eggs specially-prepared by my Mom is enough to make me feel very, very special.

On that day itself, I was on annual leave but not to our boy’s knowledge. I sent him to school as usual, and then I left the school to pick-up the cake and party stuffs. The party was held during the school’s breakfast hour, and we had briefly half an hour to conduct the party.

So, it’s PARTY time now!

Me & Edison

All the kids were perking up to the cake, and I heard the WOWs when I put up the table cloth from the “Feeling the Soccer heat” theme. I got the boys doubly excited when I displayed the paper plates and cups. Finally, I put on the Birthday Boy pin on Little Edison. He was beaming with excitement!

Everyone gathered for a nice group picture, before they started singing the Happy Birthday song at Volume 10! Our birthday boy blew the candles.

The colourful party supplies from the “Feeling the Soccer heat” theme were a big hit among the kids. It’s my first time using a themed party supplies, and I was continually surprised by the reaction of the kids, as well as the difference they made to a party.

Party at School

Previously, I’ve been using the plain white party supplies from NTUC. It’s plain boring, I know, but I just couldn’t figure out why I need to spend more money to buy the colourful ones since they’re meant to be thrown away after use.

But after this party, I realize the significance of using a themed party supplies. Not because they’re sponsored, but I feel that they really make a party extra special – when we have a theme for the party with all the matching party supplies and decorations.

It was a great joy seeing the kids enjoying themselves at the party. A time when they can talk, laugh, and play freely in the class; and be fun and boisterous as they wish to be. Our boy really enjoyed himself and he was so happy with the extra special set-up that we had for his party this year.

So, overall it was actually quite fun, easy and stress-free!

Hi Eny,
What a coincidence! 🙂 Yes, the cake looks great. Did you keep the train? I brought them home, washed them and keep them as toys.
