Interviewed by Parents World Magazine

Finally the magazine is out!

I’m so honoured to be featured as a local parent blogger in the Parents World magazine (Issue 39) this month.

The article is about local parent bloggers who use their blogs to document their lives and stream of thoughts, to share their views on parenting, and to build a supportive community. It also talks about how these parent bloggers are different from lifestyle bloggers because they do not solely depend on blogging for income.

Most of you know that I’m a full-time working mother. I don’t rely on blogging for income. I started this blog 5 years ago to document my son’s childhood. And I hope that when he grows up and reads this blog, it will bring him all his fond childhood memories.

Now, becomes a place for me to share bits and pieces from my motherhood journey. Through blogging, I’ve also rediscovered my love for writing. Over the years, I’ve pushed myself through photography and writing to expand my vision, and to share my learning curve and experiences as I travel through the ups and downs of motherhood.

It has been a wonderful experience, and I’m happy to have met many others who are on the same path. It’s good to know that we’re not alone in this madness that we call ‘Motherhood’. We can always share and connect through blogging.

When it comes to blog advertising and product endorsement, I will always stick to my principles to advertise products or services that I’ve tried and tested, that I genuinely like, and that I would confidently recommend to a good friend – which is how I think of all my readers.

Here are three questions captured in the e-interview, but they are not published. I like to share them with you.

Q: How did you come up with the name for your blog?

A: This blog is about the little things in our everyday lives. And it’s also about kids. So, I put these keywords together – our, little and kids. OurLittleKids doesn’t sound so appealing to me, so I renamed it to OurLittleSmarties.

Q: What satisfaction did you derive from blogging?

A: Blogging makes me part of this ‘mommy bloggers’ community from which I share my experiences, knowledge and encouragement. It helps me connect to the help and support that I need to be a better mom. My blogging goal is to inspire others to live a happy and fulfilled life as a mom, as well as to spread the joy of parenting.

Q: What do you hope to see in the blogging community?

A: With the advent of social media, more and more brands are looking to work with bloggers for their campaigns and publicity. I hope that bloggers can strike a balance between blogging commercially and personally, and continue to generate honest and genuine content.
