Conquer the day with MILO

March 14, 2014March 16, 2014

Getting children to eat breakfast is part of the morning challenge that many parents face every day. Have you ever wondered why breakfast is important, and why it is worth the struggle?

Well, imagine our body is like a car. After a long night of sleeping, our fuel tank is running low. Breakfast is the fuel that starts our engines and gets us going in the morning.

Especially for our school-going children, their days get busier and busier. They wake up early to go to school, and then, they go through their daily schedule that is filled with back-to-back activities. Thus, breakfast gives them the much-needed nutrition to conquer their days.

Children who take breakfast are more attentive in the class, better behaved, and have good concentration. Thus, it helps them in their learning process in school. On the other hand, those who skip breakfast are less energetic and remain inactive in the class. As a result, they face difficulties in learning.

Since Edison started Primary One this year, my biggest mission is to ensure that he has a nutritious breakfast to help him stay on top of his day. A few readers wrote to me for some breakfast ideas and tips in getting the kids to eat breakfast.

So, I shared with them these quick breakfasts that can be prepared within 5 minutes. They’re also easy to grab on the way out the door, or can be prepared the night before.

  1. single serving of whole-grain, low-sugar cereal
  2. a muffin or croissant
  3. one slice of bread with peanut butter and cheese
  4. French toast
  5. a sandwich
  6. biscuits
  7. eggs

with a cup of MILO as part of a nutritious breakfast (most important!)

Every morning is a rush and I’m so glad MILO comes to my rescue. It’s so easy to prepare! Just empty the 3-in-1 sachet into a cup, add hot water, and voila, a nutritious cup of MILO is ready for consumption.

MILO is a nutritious chocolate malt beverage made from the natural goodness of malt, milk and cocoa. It contains PROTOMALT – a unique malt extract that gives us energy to go further. MILO also contains a combination of B Vitamins and Magnesium to aid in the release of energy from food.

MILO contains calcium too, to help build strong bones and teeth. From children to the elderly, everyone needs calcium to build strong bones and to keep them strong. That is why MILO is loved by generations, not only for its great taste, but also for its nutritional benefits.

In 2006, MILO attained the Healthier Choice status from Health Promotion Board. As Singapore’s No. 1 favourite energy drink, more than one million cups of MILO are distributed free to Singaporeans annually through various sports and community events.

I can’t emphasize how busy children these days are. Their schedule can be as filled as an adult. Long school hours coupled with after school extra-curricular activities, and then, there are tuition classes and weekly sports activities.

How do we ensure that our children have the abundance of energy to keep them going?

That’s why MILO ready-to-drink beverage is my staple! Even when we’re constantly on the go, Edison can enjoy his MILO to give him the physical energy and nutrition. MILO is not just nutritious, but it’s delicious too!

Truth be told, my relationship with MILO started more than 30 years ago when I was a kid. I always remember how my mom made me a cup of MILO and I would definitely drink it before I went to school. Thus, I want to give my son the same nutritional goodness that I’ve had before.

That’s how MILO has become part of my life until now. Even as an adult, I’m still drinking MILO for breakfast every morning. In between work, chauffeuring him to school and lessons, and juggling other motherhood duties, MILO is my energy booster!

It’s no secret that I’m a MILO lover, and I would drink it all day and night if I could. My personal favourite is the 3-in-1 Less Sugar variant.

Anytime and anywhere is just how great this beverage is!
