D’Resort @ Downtown East – A Nature-Inspired Getaway with Waterpark Fun

October 23, 2015January 27, 2019

Perhaps, this is one of the most uniquely-themed resort rooms that we’ve stayed. Opened on 1 July 2015, the all-new D’Resort is Singapore’s first nature-inspired resort with an integrated waterpark experience.

Nestled amongst the lush greenery of Pasir Ris Park, the 387-room resort by NTUC Club has nine different room types. From chalet-styled rooms with BBQ pits for large gatherings to hotel-styled Rainforest rooms for family getaways, and suites for romantic escapades, there is something for everyone. The rooms also come with different views of the surrounding park, mangrove and beach.

Before we checked-in, I flashed a photo of a Rainforest room to Edison and got him super excited. “You mean we’re going to stay here this weekend? I love it! I can’t wait!” he squealed with delight.

You see – kids are crazy about bunk beds. The insanely cool and eye-catching interior also makes it one of the most uniquely-designed resorts we’ve ever stayed. The moment I opened the door, I heard “bunk bed!” and in a split second, he plonked himself onto the bunk bed.

We stayed in a Rainforest Family Room. There are twelve of such that comes in 3 different themes – Amazonian Jungle, Underwater and M&M’s. Rainforest Family Room comes with complimentary entry to eXplorerkid.

The room is very spacious with a queen-sized bed and a bunk bed, and complete with DOLCE coffee machine, electric kettle, fridge, complimentary beverages, children cutleries, and LED TV.

Our underwater themed room has ocean blue walls and white fixtures. The bunk bed comes in matching ocean blue bed sheets and bed frames. From wakefulness to slumber, the room looks so serene and soothing. We had a really good sleep that night.

One thing that is worth mentioning – the treasure chest! Answer 3 simple questions (count the ocean animals in the room) and find the password to unlock the treasure chest. The goodies in the treasure chest are yours to keep! It’s a fun game to keep the kids occupied while you settle down with a cup of coffee from the DOLCE machine.

Upon arrival at D’Resort, you’ll be greeted by a spacious resort lobby with rainforest-styled architecture with dark woods and natural tones. There are massage chairs, computer stations, and complimentary welcome drinks at the lobby.

Additional perks for NTUC Members

As an NTUC Member, you’ll be able to enjoy unlimited access to Wild Wild Wet during your stay at D’Resort. Park View chalets are made exclusively for NTUC Members, together with discounted rates for BBQ pits and car park, as well as other privileges at Downtown East. You can also redeem vouchers using your LinkPoints. Click HERE for more details.

Activities at D’Resort @ Downtown East

The resort organizes various fun activities for their guests. Some of the regular activities include the monthly mangrove tours to the beautiful Pasir Ris Park on every last Saturday of the month. Other ad hoc events include Halloween celebrations on 30 and 31 Oct, and there will be a spooky Walking Dead Parade around the resort.

You can catch the complimentary buggy to Downtown East for a host of fun activities. Missed the buggy? Fret not! It’s just a short 5 minutes walk to Downtown East where you’ll find eXplorerkid, Orchid Bowl, Cathay Movies and Party World KTV.

Future Developments at Downtown East

The opening of D’Resort marks the completion of Phase One of the $200 million Refreshing Downtown East redevelopment project that began in 2012.

In Phase Two, new F&B and retail experiences will be introduced at Downtown East. Wild Wild Wet will be expanded to double its current size (yay!). It’s targeted for completion in the second half of 2017.

Useful Info

1. Early bird rates are available six months in advance. So, get the most affordable rates by booking in advance.

2. BBQ pit access is only available for chalet-styled rooms – Park View, Mangrove Walk, and Beach Cove.

3. Only Rainforest Family rooms come with complimentary entry to eXplorerkid.

4. At this point, the resort does not provide complimentary parking for their guests. So, please check the parking rates if you’re driving. If you’re an NTUC Member, you’ll get discounted parking rates. We paid ~$20.00 for overnight parking at the resort.

5. Currently, there is only one eatery and one convenience store at the resort. I’d advise you to head down to Downtown East as there are more food options available there.

All in all, it was a truly enjoyable weekend getaway for us. We had so much fun at Wild Wild Wet and eXplorerkid. With a host of activities at D’Resort and Downtown East, we were spoilt for choice on what to do during our stay.

If you’re looking for an affordable yet fun-filled resort getaway, we certainly recommend D’Resort.

Hi CY,
Yes, in fact most of them. It’s my “virgin” attempt to use a wide-angle lens. Just anyhow-ly shoot. Haha!

Dear May,
Thanks for your compliment. We stayed for one day too and I feel that the timing is sufficient. If you want to spend the entire noon at Wild Wild Wet, you can try to check-in early. 🙂
