What we like best about Bintan Lagoon Resort is their wide range of activities – especially those that are not easily available at other resorts such as quad biking (ATV). Some complimentary activities that are included in our package include archery (20 arrows), driving range (20 balls), access to two swimming pools and those at the Leisure Center.
We were given 10% discount for other leisure activities such as bike rental, batik painting, water ball, kids fishing, etc. For more info on the activities price list, please click here.
Three activities that Edison loved most is golf, archery and air rifle. It’s been more than a year since our last visit to a driving range, but I’m glad he could pick up his swing relatively fast. After the complimentary balls, we topped up another 100 balls for IDR 100.000 (just SG$10).
Edison also tried the mini golf – a miniature golf course with 5 holes, which is very fun for kids for just IDR 98.000/hr (SG$10). These 3 activities are located within the same area, so we planned our time accordingly to do them all together. There are instructors at each station, so you don’t need to worry if you’re new to the game.
The air rifle is fun, fun, FUN! Edison loves gun a lot, and he has more than 10 toy guns in all sizes. So, you can imagine his excitement when he gets to try a real gun. 20 bullets are charged at only IDR 120.000 (SG$12) – I’d highly recommend this!
After the air rifle, we proceed with archery. We spent over two hours here on both days of our stay, so you can imagine how much fun we had here. Edison just couldn’t contain his excitement when it comes to air rifle and golf.
Next, we went to the seashore to try out some thrilling activities. We started off with All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) that brought us along the seashore and into the challenging jungle terrain. Riding an ATV is fun and exciting. I survived my first-time jitters after learning the basic riding techniques from the friendly guide.
V joked that I shouldn’t be so nervous since I’ve a motorbike license. Truth is, I hadn’t ride one for more than 10 years, and ATV is very different from motorbike as it is very heavy and hard to maneuver, especially on uneven terrain.
After the ATV, we had some beach fun. We were blessed with perfect weather that day. What else could be more relaxing than a barefoot walk along a sandy beach? And Edison just loved playing with the waves.
There are more than ten dining options in this resort. So I guarantee you’ll never run short of choices. Even if you’re too lazy tired to eat out, in-room dining is available 24 hours.
Our favourite restaurant is Nelayan – the signature restaurant in BLR. The cozy restaurant is located along the beach, offering a spectacular ocean and sunset view. It has a huge capacity with indoor and outdoor seating, in addition to a beachfront bar. It serves a variety of Asian and Western dishes, specializing in seafood.
On our first day, we had our dinner here. Both V and I ordered the Grilled Lobster. The lobster can also be cooked in a Chinese steam-cook style. The waitress showed us our live lobsters before they were being cooked!
The grilled lobster was served with delicious fried rice and sautéed vegetables. The spicy chilli sambal adds perfection to the juicy and perfectly grilled lobsters. We ordered the Combination Grill for Edison which features grilled beef, lamb, fish and prawns.
This is certainly the best dinner we had at BLR! The grilled meat and seafood are flavourful and tender, with an extra oomph from the spicy chilli sambal. We wished we could have more, ha! After the seafood feast, we took a stroll along the beach to ease our digestion.
Secondly, I’d also recommend Haskell’s Café that’s located at the golf clubhouse. It serves Asian, Indonesian, Indian and Western Cuisines, as well as light snacks. Views of the fairway and greens make every dining experience special at this café. The food prices in Haskell’s Café are cheaper than Nelayan.
The only restaurant that serves international buffet is Fiesta. Buffet is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Fiesta is uniquely perched on a hill overlooking BLR’s signature lagoon pool. We enjoyed our breakfast here – it was a perfect start of the day with unobstructed views of the majestic South China Sea. Live bands are available every lunch and dinner too.
The complimentary buffet breakfast offers a wide selection of food from nasi lemak, noodles, bread, western food, cereal, pancake, roti prata to egg station and fruits – similar to those you can find at a hotel buffet breakfast. However, I feel that their buffet dinner could be better as the food variety is somewhat lacking.
BLR is an excellent family-friendly resort with a beautiful beach, friendly staffs and a wide variety of activities. Their 3D2N all-inclusive family package for 2 adults and 2 children starts from just ~SG$600 inclusive of 2-way ferry service.
BLR is also the largest integrated resort in Bintan with over 300 hectares of lush greenery that includes two championship golf courses, two big sets of swimming pools, and 1.5km private beach. Despite its size, getting the around the resort is fuss-free with its buggy services.
It also has a multitude of activities and entertainment for all ages. From kid-focused activities to water sports, land activities, massages and sight-seeing, there’s never a dull moment at BLR.
On the overall, we’d recommend Bintan Lagoon Resort if you’re looking for an affordable family-friendly resort with a variety of activities. The main advantage is that the resort has its own private jetty and immigration terminal, so if you’re travelling with young kids, you’ll be thankful with the awesome convenience via Mozaic Ferry Lines.
However, please bear in mind that this is a 3.5 star resort with over 20 years. If you’re looking for a brand new hotel room and a luxury resort to stay, BLR may not be a good choice for you.
Food in the resort are priced similarly to Singapore. It isn’t exactly more expensive, but being in Indonesia, I was actually expecting it to be cheaper. Nonetheless, since this is a tourist attraction (food is generally priced higher), I feel that their food prices is still acceptable.
For a relaxing Bintan getaway without spending a bomb, I’d recommend Bintan Lagoon Resort. For ourselves, YES! We’ll certainly be back again.
