Ultimate Bintan Getaway to Bintan Lagoon Resort (Part 1)

December 2, 2016January 23, 2019

I’m a huge fan of weekend short trips close to home to recharge myself. That being said, I always feel that Bintan is one of the best places to go – beautiful sandy beaches, mangrove tour, golf courses, lush greenery, delightful local food and kids-friendly activities. Best of all, it’s just an hour away by ferry! So, right after the school holiday started, we visited Bintan Lagoon Resort. Even though it was just a short 3D2N trip, it was fun and activity-packed! Edison had so much fun, and he couldn’t stop talking about the trip even when we get home.

Now, let’s catch a glimpse of Bintan Lagoon Resort, a kids-friendly yet fun-filled resort in Bintan Island.

Getting to Bintan Lagoon Resort

Just 75 minutes of ferry ride from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, we arrived directly at Bintan Lagoon Resort. What amazes me is that the resort has their own private jetty and immigration terminal. This means – we don’t need to get through the hassles at Bintan’s main ferry terminal and long immigration queues. Awesome, isn’t it? Ten bonus points, please!

The ferry service is operated by Mozaic Ferry Lines, a direct ferry service from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to Bintan Lagoon Resort Ferry Terminal. Once we cleared the immigration, we took a shuttle bus to the resort – just a short distance away.

Mozaic Ferry Lines: Schedule & Pricing

SIN – BIN: 9:00am, 4:10pm
BIN – SIN: 1:00pm, 5:10pm (all days except Friday)
BIN – SIN: 11:45am, 5:10pm (Friday)
Return Trip (SIN – BIN – SIN): Adult SGD60, Child SGD50

We took the 9am ferry and arrived at Bintan Lagoon Resort at 9.30am (Indonesia time is one hour behind Singapore). Thankfully, our room was ready. So, we did a quick check-in, dropped off our luggage and started exploring the resort.

Accommodation

Bintan Lagoon Deluxe Sea Facing Room

Bintan Lagoon Resort has a wide range of accommodation, from deluxe rooms to suites and villas to suit couples, families and even groups. We stayed in a Deluxe Sea Facing Room.

This resort is over 20 years old, but their guestrooms were refurbished few years ago. So, I wasn’t expecting the room to look brand new, but it was certainly newer than I’ve expected.

The Deluxe Room is spacious and comfortable, tastefully designed in warm colours and sleek wood finishes. There’s a balcony that overlooks the swimming pool and sea. There’s a king-sized bed and raised cushion platform. Extra bed for kids can be set-up on this platform.

Edison was thrilled to see the marble bathroom with bathtub. Five bonus points from Edison! The bathroom is equipped with hair dryer and basic toiletries like toothbrush, toothpaste, earbuds, shampoo, soap, conditioner, bath gel, facial cottons and comb.

There are 3-pin plugs in the room, so there’s no need to bring travel adapter. Fruits, bottled water, electric kettle, instant coffee, tea, bath robes and a safe are also available in the room.

I was actually quite thrilled to see the villas. Some of them have private swimming pools, while some are facing the sea. Each villa comes with a buggy too. If I were to travel to Bintan with my extended family, I’ll certainly choose the villa at BLR.

Resort Facilities

Bintan Lagoon Resort is the largest integrated resort in Bintan with over 300 hectares of lush greenery that includes two championship golf courses, two big sets of swimming pools, and 1.5km private beach.

Given its size, you couldn’t possibly explore the whole resort by foot. Thankfully, there’s a complimentary buggy service at the concierge to bring the guests around. I must give credits to the concierge staffs for being so helpful during our stay. Alternatively, you can also rent a buggy for IDR 250.000/hr (2-seater) and IDR 350.000/hr (4-seater) to explore the resort on your own.

Besides the private beach, there are two large swimming pools at the resort. The kid’s swimming pool is located near the Leisure Center. It has two long winding water slides and other fun stuffs.

The main adult swimming pool is near the lobby and a short walk from our room that’s located in the East Wing.

Bintan Lagoon Resort is pretty famous for its two championship 18-hole golf courses. No wonder I saw so many golfers in this resort!

Basketball and tennis court are available for use free-of-charge. There’s also a Kedaton Tropical Spa and Beach Massage. The nice little massage huts along the beach yelled “come try me!” but it’s a pity that I missed it – busy chasing after Edison on the beach.

Leisure Centre

Over at the Leisure Center, you can find a wide variety of activities such as Powerhouse Gym, Kid’s Jungle Gym (indoor playground), bicycle rentals, batik painting, billiards, table tennis, pools, table soccer, game room with Xbox and Wii console, karaoke lounge, and a Kid’s Club that’s complete with toys and books for young children.

You can make your reservation for driving range, archery and air rifle at the Leisure Center too. These 3 activities are located within the same area that’s about 5-10 mins walk from the Leisure Center. BLR is quite big, so if you’re lazy to walk, just ask the friendly staffs to ferry you on buggy. We spent quite a long time here because Edison enjoyed golf, archery and air rifle so much (will share more in my next post!).

There’s also a Mini Mart in the resort that sells snacks, cup noodles, water, drinks, sunblock lotions, sweets, chocolates, toiletries, etc.

Upon arrival at the check-in lobby, we were immediately served with iced tea as refreshment. Check-in process was swift and the BLR staffs are very friendly and helpful. Surprisingly, they speak English fluently too.

We really like Bintan Lagoon Resort. I’ll share more about the activities and food in my next post. Please stay tuned!

The resort looks nice. Besides the Mosaiz Ferry, is there any other alternative to get to Bintan Lagoon?

Hi Lily,
Sorry for my late reply. You can also take the ferry from Bintan Resort Ferries (BRF). There will be a free shuttle bus from Bintan Ferry Terminal to Bintan Lagoon Resort.
