Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium Famtastic Weekend Staycation Review

September 7, 2017January 22, 2019

The thought of having a staycation at Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium has always been on my mind. This is because we dined at Atrium Restaurant frequently – we LOVE their sumptuous buffet.

Fresh seafood, crabs, oysters, sashimi, signature laksa, satay, chilli crayfish, durian penyet and so much more! The great food, combined with great service, keep us coming back.  We also celebrated Edison’s 10th birthday at Atrium Restaurant with our extended family members this week.  😀

So, I thought it was a perfect timing to try-out the hotel’s newly launched Famtastic Weekend Staycation. Edison was SO excited to stay in this hotel because he told me numerous times that he loves its signature lift lobby.

Wait! What? I thought you’d say he loves the buffet? But why the lift lobby? Haha!  😛

Well, yes! He absolutely loves the food too. You see – Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium is famous for its signature lift lobby where guest rooms are reached via 6 full-glass cylindrical lifts that offer amazing visuals of the hotel. Edison is often mesmerised by the dazzling atrium lobby.

Not just a hit for kids, it attracts a lot of photographers too. I had a fun time taking pictures of this beautiful atrium lobby using my wide-angle and fish-eye lenses.

And if you’re here, try to look down from the highest floor inside the lift LOL! It’s AMAZING (make sure you’re not scared of height!).

I also love how the atrium looks from the top. The symmetry that accentuates the very structure of this architecture proves to be both pleasing to the eyes as well as intriguing in other ways.

The hotel lobby is very spacious with plenty of sitting areas. The reception counters are illuminated in the chain’s signature green. Opposite are lime and orange leather armchairs with low tables, and the steel skeleton of the building’s framework.

The hotel has two main restaurants – Atrium Restaurant that serves international buffet, and Xin Cuisine Chinese Restaurant that serves dim sum buffet, Cantonese cuisines as well as signature dishes by IHG Culinary Ambassador and celebrity chef, Sam Leong.

Our room is a Deluxe Room on the 23rd floor with a double bed. It features a flat-screen TV, complimentary WiFi and PressReader app, a bathroom with bathtub, laptop-sized safe, minibar, and tea and coffee-making facilities.

Personally, I like the orange-and-gray patterned rugs and matte grey walls in the room. However, the bathroom looks a bit ordinary to me. Nonetheless, there’s a bathtub and that’s the most important thing for Edison LOL.

I was delighted to find a pillow menu detailing over 6 types of pillows that I could choose from to make my stay more enjoyable. In our room, there are also soft and firm pillows readily available for our use.

Additionally, we were also greeted with a fruit basket and a complimentary cake for Edison. The staffs knew that we were here to celebrate his birthday – from the birthday cake we brought along during check-in.

Under the Famtastic Weekend Staycation Package, Edison also received a Kids welcome amenities and kit.

After a quick caffeine fix, we head to the rooftop pool on the 6th floor for a refreshing dip. It has an adult pool and kids pool with plenty of lounge chairs. Next to it, there’s also a gym with treadmills, cross trainers, stationary bikes, and weights.

There are various fun activities planned by the hotel for families to enjoy quality time and make the most of their staycation such as fun workshops (cookie decorating, painting, PlayDoh, colouring) and movie by the poolside. The little ones are also entitled to complimentary 30 mins free play at Waka Waka (Anex @ Furama) – just a short walk from the hotel. All we need to do is just to sit back and enjoy what the hotel has thoughtfully planned for us.

And now the breakfast! Atrium Restaurant serves a decent selection of International and local delights. There was an omelette station too. I was pleasantly surprised that the weekend breakfast is served till 11am – which is GREAT for families like us who prefer to wake up late.
