Buds by Shangri-La: A World of Family Fun Awaits You at Shangri-La Hotel Singapore

February 4, 2018February 13, 2020

Buds by Shangri-La was opened on 26 Jan 2018. Spanning over 2,150 sqm in total (with 850 sqm indoors and 1,300 sqm outdoors), the immersive and curated play space allows children to learn through play in a creative, self-directed and experiential environment while bonding with their parents.

More and more hotels around the world are recognizing the importance of family play and bonding time. Thus, they are offering lots of super fun activities and play areas, each more awesome than the last. This is certainly good news for the parents. Hey kids, you are SO lucky! Now, let’s check-out Buds by Shangri-La – Singapore’s largest play space in a hotel.  😀

Buds by Shangri-la

Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore is the first hotel in Orchard Road to design and build an interactive play space for children that caters to both hotel guests and non-hotel guests. Yup, you’ll be delighted to hear that you can bring your kids there even if you’re not staying in the hotel.

Outdoors, families can enjoy a luxurious sanctuary of lush gardens in a 40,500-square-metre property, a free-form pool and an outdoor playground with a giant pirate ship structure offering challenging climbs and slides, and a water play zone with splash pads.

Indoors, families can enjoy a huge play space that includes Explorer Zone (for kids over 4 years old without parental supervision), Toddler Zone (soft play for kids under 4 years old and their parents) and various themed activity spaces that encourages fun learning.

Overall, the play space includes a design incorporating themes of adventure, camaraderie, independence and embracing of nature. A picture is worth a thousand words. Without further ado, Iet me give you a pictorial walkthrough of this wonderful play space.

Indoor Play Area

The Explorer Zone for kids over 4 years – it has a big ball pit under a mesh cave, climbing structures, air blasters for shooting foam balls (at target boards, not at people hahah!), slides and sand play area.

The Toddler Zone – soft play area for kids under 4 years old and their parents. It has vintage kiddy rides, floating balls, slide, crawler, climber, ball pit and piano floor.

This play space is totally cool, but that’s not all yet! Let’s check-out the themed activity spaces too.

Themed Activity Spaces

I particularly like the three Themed Activity Spaces that encourage fun learning.

1. Muddy – for budding artists who like to make a splash

Every wall is a canvas waiting for the kids to paint their masterpiece. These are not ordinary drawing walls, look at how they illuminate when the light is off. It’s totally amazing!

2. Stage – a music studio for young performers

This is a music studio with a piano and stage for the young performers to unlock their star power. Looks more exciting than an adult karaoke room, hahah!

3. Bake – a fully equipped cooking classroom for children and parents

This is a special activity (with a fee) for parents to rediscover the joy of cooking and baking with their kids.

For Muddy and Stage, the duration of each session is one hour. They are supervised by a team of experienced and energetic staffs so parents can relax at Recharge and enjoy a cup of coffee.

Party Room

There is also an interactive space for celebrations at Buds. You can book one of these spacious rooms to hold your special event – little one’s birthday celebration, a company function or even a team building event.

Outdoor Play Area

It features both dry and water play including a giant pirate ship structure. It also has 40,500 sqm of lush gardens to enjoy and explore!

Buds by Shangri-la

I’ve always loved Shangri-La Hotels because they offer exceptional family-friendly facilities and services, making my every stay an unparalleled experience beyond comparison. The contemporary Tower Wing in Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore now houses Themed Family Suites, Deluxe Family Rooms and a dedicated family floor.

These special rooms also include the following facilities and amenities:

A dedicated central pantry on Level 9
Stokke and other family services, amenities and features
Family concierge services
Complimentary access to Buds by Shangri-La
Car seats for airport transfers, strollers, travel cots, high chairs and smaller comfort items such as thermometers, potties, sterilizers, etc. are available upon request, prior to and during the stay, as well as the hotel’s restaurants.

All in all, Buds by Shangri-La truly surpassed my expectations. For a moment, I thought I was at one of those indoor playgrounds in town. But then, I realized this is a play space in a 5-star hotel which also incorporates indoor and outdoor play, as well as supervised themed activities. For the kids, 3 hours passed by in a jiffy. But for the parents, it takes forever to get their kids out of here LOL.  😆

Ample amenities are available in Buds including nursing rooms, children’s restrooms and changing rooms. Best thing – it’s opened to non-hotel guests too! Check-out Buds by Shangri-La now and rediscover a new world of family fun.  😉
