Forest Adventure is a treetop obstacle course located at Bedok Reservoir Park. It is also Singapore’s first and only treetop obstacle course. Suitable for kids as young as five years old, it’s a wonderful activity for the little ones to experience the outdoor as well as for families to exercise together.
I was quite surprised to know that Forest Adventure has been opened since 2007. I only heard about them recently. If I had a parenting label, I would likely be sporting the “unadventurous mom” badge LOL. 😆 Well, you probably know that I’m not a sporty person too. Anyway, if you haven’t been to Forest Adventure, it’s time to check them out. Forest Adventure was recently revamped with a new obstacle course on their 10th anniversary and is now bigger and better than before.
Truth be told, when the invitation from Forest Adventure landed in my mailbox, I considered for a long time before accepting it. I’ve never done anything like this in my entire life, and I think I’m scared of heights too. Now that I’ve experienced it, I can honestly tell you that it’s very FUN! It’s certainly NOT as scary as I thought it would be. Hence, I’m going to recommend this place to you today. 😀
Forest Adventure Tree Top Course For You
Location
Forest Adventure is located at Bedok Reservoir Park. The nearest carpark is carpark A on Bedok Reservoir Road. From there, there is about 10mins walk to Forest Adventure (follow the signage).
Rope Courses
There are three rope courses here. The Kids Course and the Junior Course cater to kids and tweens, while the Grand Course is designed to challenge teenagers and adults. The conditions of participation and course map are as follow:
As there is a limit to the number of participants on each course at any time, I would advise you to make a booking prior to your visit (no prepayment required). When you arrive at Forest Adventure, check-in at the main counter to make your payment and get your wrist tags.
All participants must wear closed-toe sports shoes. Before the start of the course, all participants will attend a safety briefing on how to put on their harnesses, how to attach them to the safety line, and how to move along the courses. Kids on the Kids Course will get a helmet too. Do note that participants are not accompanied by instructors while on the course. But not to worry, participants can familiarize themselves on a low practice set-up first. Once they are ready, they can move on to the rope course.
The three rope courses are located at the same area, but at three different levels. The Kids Course starts from the lowest level, and kids can go up to the second level after completing the first. Suitable for kids from 5 to 10 years, the course has 22 crossings and 2 zip lines. The kids need to make their way across rope obstacles such as cargo net tunnels, planks and swinging bridges. The first level of obstacles ends with a zip line.
Once they have completed their first level, I’m pretty sure they will want to challenge themselves to go on the second, higher level with more challenges that end with another zip line. The course will take approx. 1 hour. Kids below 7 must be accompanied by a parent or buddy aged 14 and above.
Now, you may be wondering what happens if your kid is stuck at an obstacle. Even though the tours are not guided, the instructors are around (on the ground) to provide assistance and coach them through the obstacle, if they are stuck.
The Junior Course is designed for teens and pre-teens with a minimum height of 1.35m. It has 26 obstacles including 2 zip lines (one over the water). With one loop from the Kids Course and one loop from the Grand Course, it’s the perfect transition for older kids who may no longer be challenged by the Kids Course but not ready yet for the Grand Course. This is the perfect choice for Edison. This course takes approx. 1hr 15mins.
V and I signed up for The Grand Course. It has 44 different obstacles including 3 giant zip lines over the reservoir. This course takes approx. 2.5hrs. If you’re game for more fun, you can try out The Big Zip. This is not a standalone attraction and is accessible to all Course ticket holders who meet the minimum weight of 50kg. There is no need to make an advanced booking as it tags on to an existing booking on the course.
The three of us went on the Green Line together (shared between The Grand Course and The Junior Course). The obstacles focus mainly on balance and some strength. It’s also about conquering fears (at least for me). Once I got the hang of the safety system, the height was no longer a fear factor for me.
The scariest part for me was the zip line as I’m scared of the height. My little dare devil cheered for me from behind, “Go Mama! Go Mama!” and I counted to five, closed my eyes, jumped down and yelled “God saves me!”. Haha, so embarrassing right? Luckily, after my first zip, I was confident to go on subsequent ones. The zips were actually quite fun! 😆
After our adventure, I asked Edison if he feared any of the obstacles. As I’ve expected, he nonchalantly said “No!” and was proud to have attempted everything without any problem. He was only worried that he couldn’t get a perfect landing on the zip line. If he couldn’t, his pants might touch the sand and get dirtied. Hahah!
Forest Adventure is open from 9.30am to 6.30pm from Tuesday to Sunday. It is closed on Mondays except public holidays. The last departure on the Grand Course is 4pm, 4.30pm on the Junior Course and 5pm on the Kids Course. They also offer birthday parties, corporate team building events and school groups.
Some Tips to Share
Wear shoes that have a good grip on the soles; dress in simple attire that won’t get in the way with the harness. Briefing takes place in 30 minutes interval, so be punctual so you won’t have to wait for the next session if you arrive late. Factor in time to get to the attraction as it takes about 10 minutes to walk there from the nearest carpark, plus another 10 minutes to make payment and sign the disclaimer form.
Coin lockers are available at $1 per use. There are vending machines providing snack and drinks at Forest Adventure. Make a pit stop at the washroom situated just after Water Venture, prior to reaching the attraction as you will be wearing the harness for 2 hours after that.
