Orchard Rendezvous Hotel was officially launched by Far East Hospitality in September 2018 after a rebranding from the former Orchard Parade Hotel that has undergone a three-year refurbishment. The 4-star hotel still stays true to its heritage charm with white and black arched windows, elegant cornices and brass finishes, while sporting a brand-new interior inspired by a 🌳 botanical theme.
Do you know that Orchard Rendezvous Hotel is the second property under the Rendezvous brand in Singapore? The first one is Rendezvous Hotel Singapore located in Bras Basah. Other properties under the brand include Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne, Rendezvous Hotel Perth Central and Rendezvous Hotel Sydney Central which will also be refreshed progressively.
We were SO excited to check out the revamped rooms and facilities last weekend. V wants to see the Disney-themed 🎄 Christmas light-up along Orchard Road, while I (obviously) prefer to do some Christmas shopping. And then, we thought: What about a staycation at a hotel in Orchard Road? On the other hand, Edison can’t wait to check-out their family rooms after I (secretly) told him that he might be able to sleep on a bunk bed. Hahah! 😜
If you’re looking for an affordable hotel along Singapore’s main shopping belt, this is definitely THE ONE. I bet no other hotels can beat in terms of price vs. the room size. I’m talking about 50 – 60 sqm here! You shall see it shortly.
The original hotel building was developed on a plot of old pepper plantation. Drawing inspiration from this historical significance, the interiors of the hotel have been refurbished to incorporate elements of the pepper plant. You’ll see pepper plant motif in all 388 rooms of the property.
At first glance, the exterior of the hotel gives a “resort-feel” with its orange-washed walls. But the moment we stepped-in, we were wowed by its beautiful lobby with two mesmerizing pepper leaf-inspired chandeliers at the center. Over at the atrium, there is also a Ficus Benjamina tree with plenty of comfy chairs for guests to relax in a garden-like atmosphere.
The 388 rooms in this property are divided into 11 room types (including suites) ranging from 26 – 68 sqm. The Superior and Deluxe Rooms are perfect for couple. With a room size of 26 – 30 sqm, they come with a choice of bathroom with 🛀 bathtub or 🚿 rain shower. If you prefer Club Lounge access with all-day refreshments, you can opt for the Club Room (30 sqm) or Club Suite (43 sqm).
Personally, I like their uniquely-designed Family Rooms with plenty of space to spread out and relax. Family Room (50 sqm) comes with a king-sized bed and a single bed, or three single beds. Family Room with Sofa Bed (40 sqm) comes with a king-sized bed and a sofa bed that is perfect for three. There is also Family Room with Bunk Bed (50 sqm) that is equipped with a king-sized bed and a bunk bed. Lastly, for bigger families, there is also Family Suite (60 sqm) with a king-sized bed and two single beds with separated dining area.
The hotel also offers two categories of suites – One Bedroom Suite (57 sqm) and One Bedroom Deluxe Suite (76 sqm). The latter comes with Club Lounge access too. Some of the rooms in this property also come with accessible balcony.
For this staycation, we stayed in a Family Room with Bunk Bed. Come, I can’t wait to show you around! 😃
Tadaa! 😍 This is our Family Room, SO spacious isn’t it? We can practically somersault in the room LOL. Subtle touches of the hotel’s character can be seen in the room such as botanical-inspired headboards, carpet with flower motifs and lovely orchid plants. I like how the crisp white walls compliment the overall design of the room to give a fresh aesthetic feel too.
As you can see, the Family Room has a separated living area with TV as well as dining area. I like it because when V watched TV until past midnight, he wouldn’t disturb my beauty sleep. This is the perfect room design for a night owl and an early bird LOL. There’s also a ceiling fan in the room, so it’s cool and comfortable all the time. 👍
The bathroom also deserves some highlight, much because of its size, bath tub, marble vanity top, separate shower cubicle and Naturals bath amenities. Hotel toiletries rarely satisfy me, but this one certainly did! I super loved the light refreshing scent after I shower.
The bunk bed for him to conquer! The animal pillows and chalk board make it extra welcoming for the kids. Here’s a video of the room that I’ve posted on my Instagram.
Look! Someone brought along his “animal friends” too… LOL.
The newly-renovated outdoor swimming pool has a Mediterranean theme with plenty of cabanas around it. I was pleasantly surprised to see such a beautiful oasis in the middle of the city. We quickly changed into our swimming suits and head for a dip in this wonderful weather (before it rains!).
I noticed that there is a landscaped garden next to the pool. Hence, I took the opportunity to check out Vanda Orchard Rendezvous – an orchid hybrid specially commissioned by the hotel. There is also a fitness center equipped with several exercise equipment and a laundry room (perfect for long-staying guests).
The hotel does not have an in-house restaurant except the lobby bar. However, there are several tenants such as Modesto’s (which also serves breakfast for the hotel), Brewerkz, Akanoya Robatayaki, Akashi Japanese Restaurant, Black Angus Steakhouse, Kam Boat Teochew Restaurant and TungLok Signatures. Both Chinese restaurants are within the hotel itself. Wow! That’s an amazing selection of Japanese, Western and Chinese food.
As I knew that breakfast is served at Modesto’s, I didn’t expect a fancy breakfast like other 5-star hotels. Nonetheless, the food surprised me in a good way. 😀 Besides the usual American breakfast such as eggs, bacon, hash browns, waffles, French toasts, sausages, assorted toast bread and cereals, the local dishes such as fried rice, roti prata and porridge are done pretty well too. There’s also plenty of salads, fruits and juices.
For the nature lovers, you’ll be happy to know that Singapore Botanic Gardens is just 15 mins walk away. On the other direction, that is Singapore’s famed shopping belt Orchard Road. Orchard Rendezvous Hotel is located right next to Forum The Shopping Mall. Other bigger shopping malls like Takashimaya, ION and Paragon as well as Orchard MRT station are less than 10 mins walk away.
Too lazy to go out? Fret not! Within the hotel, there is K Suites that opens until 4am where you can sing to your heart’s content. Or head down to the Lobby Bar for a drink to wind down your night. And truly, there are so many things you can do within 24 hours.
If you’re planning for your year-end staycation, good news for you! StayFarEast Exclusive Year End Promotion with up to 50%! A Superior Room is yours to stay for less than S$150. This is in Orchard area, you probably won’t find it elsewhere. Better be quick! 😆
