Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Review: Family-Friendly Resort in Patong

October 26, 2019November 17, 2019

Four days seemed like a lot of time spent in Holiday Inn Resort Phuket, but those days went by in a flash. As Edison said, “When you’re having fun, a day is like a minute” which is so true LOL! 😃 In this post, I’m going to bring you for a walk around the resort. If you’ve missed my earlier review on Pool Side Busakorn Studio Room, you can read it HERE.

Swimming Pools

Honestly, I’m rarely impressed with hotel swimming pools, but Holiday Inn Resort Phuket totally surprised me. It has FOUR swimming pools. Yes, you read it correctly – there are four! This was the first time we stayed in a resort that has SO many pools to choose from. Hahah!

In the Main Wing, there’s an expansive free-form swimming pool framed by coconut palms and exotic flowers, with a shallow toddlers’ area featuring water spouts and sliders. Second, there’s a children’s pool with plenty of shade, whale and turtle fountains, a fun slide and direct access to the Kids’ Club.

In the Busakorn Wing, there are two additional swimming pools exclusively for Busakorn Wing guests. The larger one has a lagoon-style fringed in frangipani trees, stone statues and lush foliage. Guests can swim up to the pool bar for a fruity cocktail, or simply relax in the other Jacuzzi Pool.

As I’ve mentioned in my previous post, Busakorn Wing has undergone a major renovation. I’d say it’s a high standard of renovation that the pools and their surroundings looked so refreshed now. Even the pool lounger chairs were changed to new ones!

Kids’ Club

I have seen many kids’ clubs, more often than not, they are just an air-conditioned room with TV and a few toys. But Holiday Inn Resort Phuket is serious about its Kids’ Club. It is newly renovated with a fun underwater theme and divided into 4 zones – TV, Xbox 360, Arts & Crafts and Games. 😍

Not only it is well-equipped with a variety of toys, there are also supervised activities handled by a team of qualified staffs. These activities are available all day such as Hunting Game, Shooting Game, Bubbles Fun, Junior Chef, Play Dough and even sports like Muay Thai, Yoga and Badminton.

Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Kids' Club

The Kids’ Club is open to kids of all ages from 9am till 5pm daily (free-of-charge). The best thing is – it’s also opened in the evening 3 nights a week till 9pm. As parents, romantic evenings for two are hard to come by. Thanks to Holiday Inn, they got us covered too.

As an added bonus, the club also offers “Activities for All” meant for parents and kids. There are different activities throughout the week such as tour to Phuket Old Town, Dino Park Minigolf, Promthep Cape, Trick Eye Museum, as well as Nail Painting, Hair Plaits, Basic Thai Cultures, complimentary head, neck & shoulder massage, etc. Most of these activities are free-of-charge, you just need to pay a small fee for the tours.

Restaurants

In this resort, there are 4 restaurants and a bar, each serving different cuisines to cater for a variety of tastes. There is Sea Breeze Café – the main restaurant where scrumptious buffet breakfast is served every morning for guests staying in the Main Wing. The spread here is the perfect breakfast to start your day, and they sure know how to delight the kids by having a separate kids’ buffet section.

We’re buffet lovers! For sure, we’ll never leave this place without trying their buffet dinner. The best thing is – they have different buffet themes throughout the week. We tried the Andaman Seafood Buffet on Saturday and Juicy Meat BBQ & Fresh Seafood Buffet on Monday. The food variety was awesome with several live cooking stations.

My favourite restaurant is Charm Thai. Set in a breezy open-air sala by the pool, it serves lavish buffet breakfast for guests staying in the Busakorn Wing. Honestly, I was quite impressed with the food selection during breakfast. There are Thai, Chinese, Western as well as Indian food to choose from, not forgetting the nice selection of local fruits (the Thai guava was so sweet!).

Charm Thai also offers a delectable array of local cuisines, seafood, Asian and Western favourites. I’d highly recommend their set menus where you can get delicious Thai food at very reasonable prices. Both Charm Thai and Sea Breeze Café have Kids Eat Free promotion. This keeps our kids and our wallet happy at the same time, hehe!

There are two other restaurants in the resort. Terrazzo, the casual al fresco dining that serves wood fired oven pizza, Italian cuisines like pasta, fresh seafood, steak as well as tapas delights. Sam’s Steak & Grills serves succulent imported steaks and fine wines from across the globe in a comfortably elegant table seating.

Facilities & Nearby Attractions

As you know, Thailand is famous for spa and massage. This is definitely not to be missed! Being a family-friendly resort, Tea Tree Spa offers spa treatments for every guest – including the little ones. The resort also has a Fitness Centre, Mini Mart and Tour Desk.

Most importantly, the resort has the best location in Patong. The famous Patong Beach is just a doorstep away (from the side exit at Main Wing). The side exit at Busakorn Wing will take you to Jungceylon Shopping Mall and Central Patong (just 10 mins walk). Bangla Road, the vibrant nightlife and entertainment street, and OTOP Market, a bustling local market, are also within walking distance.

Summary

Hotel competition in Phuket has always been fierce. With over two decades of experience in providing genuine Thai service, Holiday Inn Resort Phuket has established itself as one of the BEST resorts in the heart of Patong. Holiday Inn always welcome kids and treat them like VIP with Kids Stay & Eat FREE promotion, etc. That’s what I love most about them. 😊

One of the most impressive features of the resort is their sizeable swimming pools. The newly renovated Busakorn Wing is just a two-minute walk from the buzz and bustle of Patong. We truly enjoyed our stay at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket with their warm hospitality, delicious food and beautiful room. Last but not least, IHG Rewards Club members also enjoy 15% dining discount, 10% spa discount (on ala-carte menu), welcome drinks and fruits. It’s worth every penny for such an unforgettable stay.

indeed a good resort especially for kids. just steps from Patong Beach and 10 minutes by foot from Bangla Road. The good part is in the shopping district. I give 9 ratings for Location, WiFi, Breakfast, Food, Service and 8 Room. Kids love it kids club and the pool..Nice article
