A month ago, I was thinking where to bring Edison for a reward vacation after his PSLE. I chanced upon a sale on Jetstar and snagged a good deal to fly to Phuket. As happy as a clam, I began searching for a beach resort in Patong and finally decided to stay at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket. Best choice ever! It turned out to be an amazingly family-friendly resort. Now, I can’t wait to share more with you. 😃
Getting to Holiday Inn Resort Phuket
There are numerous budget carriers offering flight from Singapore to Phuket at affordable prices. One of them is Jetstar with the best departure and arrival times between Phuket and Changi. The flight duration is 1.5 hours, we left Singapore at 7:55am and arrived in Phuket at 8:50am. Likewise, we chose a morning return flight so that we could get home by noon. Still have half a day to unpack and rest before we return to work/school the next day.
When we arrived, we asked around for the rates of airport taxi to Patong and their rates are ~800 Baht (S$36). Luckily, we booked a Private Phuket International Airport Transfers for Phuket on Klook in advance and it costs just S$25. SO much cheaper! The journey from airport to Holiday Inn Resort Phuket took an hour.
We arrived at the resort at 11am. When I made my booking, I requested for early check-in. As always, early check-in is subjected to availability. We were 3 hours earlier than their standard check-in time (2pm), so we were very thankful to hear that our room was ready.
With our luggage being taken care of by the porters, we were escorted to the exclusive reception area in the Busakorn Wing. Got the VIP feel, haha! 😎 We were served with welcome drinks and wet towels soaked with fragrances to freshen up. I always feel that it’s a nice hospitality gesture for a hotel team to offer towels to guests when they check-in.
Pool Side Busakorn Studio Room
Holiday Inn Resort Phuket has a wide range of room types in two distinctive wings to cater for every traveler’s needs. The Main Wing has rooms suitable for families such as Kids Suite with Bunk Bed and Family Suite with Themed Children Room. On the other hand, the newly renovated Busakorn Wing has studio and villa rooms with modern Thai décor centered around two themed pools.
We chose the Busakorn Wing as it was newly renovated and in fact, it was re-opened just a month ago. There are two types of studio rooms here: Pool Side Room on the ground floor and Pool View Room on the 2nd till 6th floor.
Tadaa! This is our Pool Side Busakorn Studio Room with Twin Bed. It’s spanking new and smells fresh too! The moment Edison marched into the room, I saw a burst of delight on his face. “Look! There’s a direct access to the pool!” And then, he was all “Wow, wow, wow!” 😆
This was the first time we stayed in a room that is so close to the pool – just a few steps away! I super like the layout of this 42sqm studio room. It has an outside sitting area overlooking the pool, a window-side sofa, flat-screen Smart TV, bathroom with rain shower, dressing area, illy Coffee machine and complimentary minibar. Not forgetting the premium bedding, duck down duvets, and a choice of firm and soft pillows. My best sleep retreat ever! 😍
One thing that I must share with you. All the Busakorn Studio Rooms come with complimentary minibar with soft drinks and beers. For Pool Side Room only, the minibar is replenished daily! Besides the direct pool deck access, this is another added advantage for Pool Side Rooms.
The glass sliding door to the outside sitting area and window give a light airy and spacious feel to the room with an abundance of sunlight. The decorative wall panels on the bed head and wooden bedside table with lamp in silk cocoon style give a modern Thai ambience that feels like an elegant home away from home.
Beyond the bedroom, through the sliding wooden doors, is the shower room with separated toilet. There’s also a wash basin, dressing table with hairdryer and wardrobe that can be opened on both sides (from the room and from the dressing area). If you’re staying with your kids, it gives you some privacy when you’re showering. Love it! And of course, all the toiletries that you need are provided in the room.
If you’re ready to splurge, I’d recommend the Busakorn Villa Pool Access Room with direct access to a serene tropical pool from your private furnished terrace. There’s only 18 of them in this resort. The pool is beautifully positioned within a secluded courtyard garden reserved exclusively for Villa Room guests only.
Well, I hope you enjoyed reading thus far. In my next post, I’ll bring you around the resort. So, please stay tuned for my next post!
