Yes, it’s that time of the year again! School Holiday! Time to start thinking about where to bring your kids to, and how to keep them occupied and happy during the holiday.
Today, I’ve a suggestion for you. We checked out the newly opened Kidz Amaze indoor playground at SAFRA Toa Payoh. It’s amazing, and our boy loves it so much. What can I say except indoor playgrounds are just getting bigger and better each time I visit a new facility. Now, I wish I’m a child again!
Kidz Amaze is one of the largest indoor playgrounds in Singapore, complete with a three-storey vertical maze and latest play technology specially designed for both children as well as adults. They have recently opened their second branch at SAFRA Toa Payoh. The size of it is 12,700 sq ft, slightly smaller than the first branch at SAFRA Jurong, with an impressive size of 17,000 sq ft.
It has three inter-connected themed zones named The Cave, Tree Tops and The City. The play area is colourful, bright and visually-captivating. The three-storey maze is moderately-challenging, suitable for 5-year-old kid like Little Edison.
The highlight of this place has to be the ball pit and soft ball shooters, I would say. There is a machine that sucks up all the soft balls into a huge yellow basket located at the second storey. Just like the tipping water bucket at water theme park, this yellow basket will tipped over at certain time intervals, pouring all the soft balls onto the exciting kids.
Little Edison enjoyed this section a lot. I sat at one corner of the play area, and did some reading on my iPad while he was playing with the other kids and screaming with excitement every time the balls poured onto him.
There is a wave slide here, but it’s not as high as the one at Amazonia. The structures are quite safe and they are all padded. So, I allowed him to go up on his own. And once he climbed up the structures, I can hardly see him from the outside.
Unlike The Polliwogs, there is no café here. Parents and guardians can choose to sit inside the play area (chargeable at $2.15 per accompanying adult) or at the waiting area outside (free). There are plenty of areas to sit and relax inside the play area. The outside waiting area is also quite spacious, with sofa, chairs and TV.
There is a baby room equipped with diaper-changing station, hot water and sofa for nursing. The washroom is located inside the facility, and it’s equipped with child-sized toilet bowls and wash basins too. Lockers are available for rentals.
They have two nicely-decorated party rooms, offering birthday package starting from $396.45 (for Kidz Amaze members) for up to 20 children.
Personally, I find that the most attractive part of Kidz Amaze is that they charge per-entry on weekdays and even on weekends. It’s the first time I heard that an indoor playground charges per entry on weekends. Their admission rates are definitely one of the cheapest among all that we’ve visited so far.
At the end, I think we paid more for the car park charges than the admission. Parking rate is quite expensive here – $1.95 per hour for non-SAFRA members!
All in all, I think that this facility is fantastic. It’s new, spacious and clean. The play structures are suitable for 3 to 7 years old. I noticed that they are setting up a separate Infant and Toddler Play Zone, but it was not ready at the day of our visit. Our boy certainly loves this new playground.
