Whether we send our children to school or are homeschooling, there are bound to be times when we have to look for extra reinforcement on certain subjects. I used to buy pre-school workbooks from Popular book store. But after a while, I felt that they are mostly the same.

I began to search for printable worksheets from the internet. There are some excellent free printable worksheet sites available on the internet, covering a variety of subjects including grammar, geography, math, spelling, handwriting, coloring, hand crafts etc.

These are the four main sites that I really like. I print the worksheets for Little Edison. At night, we will sit together and try to complete two or three sheets before we go to bed. It’s fun and enjoyable activity for us.

If you’re looking for printable worksheets too, take a look at these website. I’m sure you’ll like what you find.

1. TLSBooks.com offers excellent free educational worksheets for early childhood through fifth grade. The worksheets are also sorted by subject for easy searching. I download most of the worksheets here.

2. ABCTeach.com has an incredible array of resources for all ages including worksheets, puzzles, flashcards and reading comprehension activities. You can create your own custom worksheets too.

3. SchoolExpress.com has the largest collection of worksheets. It has online storybooks too.

4. AllKidsNetwork.com offers fun kids activities such as crafts, worksheets, coloring pages, printable mazes, dot to dot, hidden pictures and more.

Photographic Memory Game

I’m going to play this photographic memory game with little Edison. It is similar to what our sensei taught in the class.

What we need to prepare for this game?
1. Print out the pictures attached HERE. Total: 3 pages.
2. Cut the three pictures on page 2 (along the dotted lines)

How to play this game?
1. Show them the picture on page 1 for about 3-5 seconds. Tell them to take a picture using their “special camera”.

2. Give them the three pictures that we cut from step #2 above.

3. Now, tell them to arrange the three pictures into the boxes (page 3) according to the positions that they saw a moment ago.

4. After they arranged the pictures, show them the picture on page 1 again and check for accuracy.
5. Don’t forget to praise them if they managed to arrange correctly.
6. Give them encouragement if they did not get it correct.

Try it; I hope your kiddos will like this game.

Numbers Flashcards

Our toddler’s vocabulary is increasing day by day. They are aware of the words used to describe everyday objects and ideas. We can enhance their awareness by teaching them numbers and colours.

Flash cards are always my best teaching aids. I made some simple numbers flash cards to teach little Edison to count and recognize numbers. If you are interested, you can click HERE to get a copy.

When teaching our toddlers numbers, the best method that we can use is to count everything. We can count the number of cookies on their plates, the number of dogs printed on the flash card or pictures on their favorite board books. We can also use an abacus.

With lots of practices and examples, they will soon understand the concept of counting and recognize numbers.
