Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore – Experience That Jen Feeling Again!

Recently, we went for a staycation at Hotel Jen Orchardgateway. Located directly above Orchardgateway, we felt so much like a tourist in our own city. The amazing rooftop pool with breath-taking views of the Singapore skyline is what we loved most about this hotel. And I can’t wait to show you around.

If you’re not familiar with Hotel Jen, let me share with you a brief introduction. In 2014, the Shangri-la Group revamped their mid-range hotels in the best locations across Asia Pacific to Hotel Jen that aims to capture a younger and more travel-savvy market as compared to their flagship Shangri-la brand.

Hotel Jen delivers quality and comfort, convenience and value, but what makes it special is the way it makes people feel excited and happy, respected and cared for, and relaxed throughout their stay. So, I’ll be sharing with you “That Jen Feeling” really soon.

Hotel Jen Orchardgateway is the third Hotel Jen that we’ve stayed, and the special thing about it – it was the first property that was purposely built under the new branding. Opened in Sep 2014, the hotel is brand new and interconnected with three shopping malls that provides a seamless and weather-proof shopping experience, as well as direct access to Somerset MRT station.

Hotel Jen Orchardgateway’s lobby is located above ground on the 10th floor, which is quite unique. We stayed in a Club Deluxe Room located on the 13th floor. The room is very spacious with a super comfy king-sized bed, sofa with pull-out bed, 40-inch Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) system, executive writing desk, a fruit cup in the fridge, and all the usual things like steam iron, safe, coffee station, WIFI, etc.

Edison jumped with excitement at the sight of the bathroom. It’s very spacious and have a bath-tub too.

He was also thrilled to see this.

Now, let’s check out the club lounge. Another perks of staying in the Club Deluxe Room is the complimentary access to Club Lounge on the 19th floor. On top of the breath-taking panoramic city view, we get exclusive check-in and check-out, complimentary drinks and snacks all day long, evening cocktail, and other privileges.

I love the café-like setting with comfy armchairs and glorious sunshine from the large windows. Edison said he could easily snooze here because it was just too comfy.

After filling our tummies with light snacks, we went for a swim at the amazing rooftop pool with panoramic views of the Singapore skyline. I love the poolside cabana. There is also a mini bar here, so you can order your favourite drinks and some ice cold beer. Have I mentioned about the indulgent massage by the pool that you can book during the day?

Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour Review: A Fantastic Weekend Getaway

Even though Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park is just a short drive from Singapore, I’d recommend that you stay at Hotel Jen. Reason is simple – after one day of fun-filled and energy-draining activities, driving back home is tiring. Secondly, topping up the theme park with a hotel stay will certainly add excitement to your kids.

Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour is located right next to Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park (read our review on Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park HERE). Do you know that Hotel Jen is the newest hotel brand in the Shangri-La Group? I must preface this review by admitting that I’m biased to Shangri-La Hotel Group and the high level of service and quality that it consistently delivers worldwide.

Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour Review

Our stay at Hotel Jen was no different from our previous stays at other Shangri-La hotels. The hotel’s excellent service started from the very beginning – the check-in process was swift and speedy, and the hotel staffs are helpful and friendly.

Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour

The hotel lobby emanates style and modernity, with spacious seating area, iMac workstations, secured handphone charging station and welcome drinks. The hotel also provides free basement parking and free scheduled shuttle to Legoland.

This is our Deluxe Harbour View Room. It’s reasonably-sized with a plush queen-sized bed and sofa bed that accommodates 3 of us comfortably, and also complete with coffee station, mini bar, steam iron, fridge, 40” LED TV, cable TV, WIFI and executive writing desk.

Room

What I like best is the beautiful scenic view of the harbour. I like the natural light with warm and cozy colour tone of the room.

The highlight of this hotel has to be its outdoor rooftop swimming pool with sundeck. It has an infinity pool that you can see all the way to Singapore, a children’s pool and a Jacuzzi salt water pool – which is great for skin! Guests can also indulge in fully-equipped gym, steam bath and body massage. There is also a SkyBar at the pool deck.

After a relaxing swim and steam, we were all ready to enjoy our buffet dinner at Harbour Café. As a hotel guest, we were entitled to a special discounted rate of RM80 per adult and RM40 per child (nett) for the International Buffet. It’s really value-for-money for such an impressive spread.

Obviously, I couldn’t taste all the food – even though I wish I could. So, I only took pictures of those that caught my eyes, but there were plenty more that the restaurant has generously offered for its international buffet.

The seafood station is our favourite. We loved the sweet and succulent prawns, as well as flower crabs. We also indulged in fresh sashimi to our hearts’ content. On top of that, there is an Indian section serving authentic Indian cuisines, Chinese section with delicious herbal stew and soup, spicy curry me (must try!), dim sum, pasta, sushi, chocolate fountain, wide spread of cakes and desserts, salad, fruits, juices, and many more!

After a satisfying dinner, we took a stroll at the harbour. It was surrounded by alfresco restaurants and beautifully-landscaped walkways.

Just a short walk from the hotel, there are also retail outlets such as Toys R Us, and also family restaurants such as Kenny Rogers and Sushi King.

Great food, great fun, comfy bed and salt water pool certainly completes our day at Hotel Jen. Does that warrant a trip back any time soon? Certainly YES! It’s a perfect place for me to unwind. Our boy has already sealed a deal with us to come back during the December holiday. =)
