Introducing: PNKids Complete Multivitamin + Minerals Syrup

Being a mother, one of the things that I’m often concerned about is whether my son is getting enough nutrition because he’s a picky eater. Since he started primary school, he is spending more meal-time at school and I’m not around to monitor his food choices.

When he was much younger, he was a notorious picky eater and I had my fair share of food battles with him. He simply refused to eat anything unfamiliar, especially vegetables and fruits. I tried every trick that I can find on the internet, like chopping up vegetables into tiny pieces and hide them in his food, make them into beautiful yummy bento, offer rewards, cook up all sorts of new recipes, but they rarely worked.

Over time, I’ve come to realize that these battles are energy draining and not worth fighting. So while I still try my best to give him a balanced diet, I make up for whatever’s missing with supplements. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made and it stopped all the stress for everyone involved.

We tried a large variety of multivitamin and nutritional supplements, from chewable tablets to gummies, jellies and syrup. To me, they are genius innovation. Who would have thought that a full day’s worth of complete nutrition can be packed into such a kid-friendly and tasty supplement?

One of the most frequent questions parents ask is ‘What multivitamin supplement is best for my child?’ In my opinion, the key to choosing a good multivitamin supplement is a balance between nutrition and taste. We need to look for something that has the right amount of vitamins and minerals they need according to their age. Taste is equally important because it’s the deciding factor whether they want put them into their mouths.

Recently, I was given the opportunity to try out PNKids Complete MultiVitamin + Minerals Syrup. It’s the latest product from PNKids, an award-winning health supplement brand. PNKids offers a wide range of health supplements specially formulated for kids – from wide-scope product such as Multivitamins for Boys and Girls, to specific target products such as Brain Power and Bright Eyes.

They have been awarded “Top Brand” in the kid’s dietary supplements category. All their products are manufactured from premium grade ingredients and strictly without artificial flavours and colours. They aim to provide our little loved ones with the proper vitamins and minerals essential for their daily activities and growth.

In 2014, PNKids has been ranked No. 1 Kids Multivitamin Brand in Singapore in the Western Pharmacy stores, based on Nielsen report. Originating from the USA, PNKids is now available in all chainstore pharmacies, supermarkets, departmental stores and speciality stores in Singapore.

Now, I’ll share with you more about their latest product – the new Complete Multivitamin + Mineral Syrup. It’s the most complete solution in providing nutrients for kids that I’ve been waiting for. Nothing has been seen in the market that closely compares to this formulation, nor to its delicious fruity taste. So, I’m very excited to introduce it to you today.

Containing 21 powerful key vitamins and minerals, it fuels their growth, supports the development in their bones, teeth, immune functions, hormones etc, and fills in the nutritional gap in our children’s diet. The tasty syrup formulation has a delicious mango flavour that is suitable for infants and children aged 12 months and older.

It’s also designed for toddlers who are making their transition from “fortified milk formula” to standard cow’s milk. Vitamins and minerals are specially chosen to support optimal growth and development for picky-eaters and help to build up their appetite. It’s lactose-free, gluten-free, and suitable for vegetarian too.

Simply pour 5 to 10 ml (depending on your kid’s age) of PNKids Multivitamin Syrup into milk, water or juice. It adds a light sweet fruity taste to the drink that every kid will surely love. It can also be added onto food. It is to be consumed once a day.

I like the fact that I can fortify my child’s daily drink with 21 essential nutrients simply by adding the multivitamin syrup into his drink. Its great tasting fruity flavour is a bonus to us because Edison loves it so much that he’ll ask for it every day after his meal.

PNKids Multivitamin + Mineral syrup gives me a peace of mind, knowing that the daily nutritional needs of my son is being taken care of, no matter how picky of an eater he can be. Whether he’s eating enough at school or at home, I’m assured that he’s getting the key vitamins and minerals to keep his growing body stronger and healthier each day.

And we live happily ever after with no more food battles!

Power Up! with Eu Yan Sang Essence of Chicken

One of the things that I’m often concerned about since Edison started Primary 1 is whether he’s getting enough nutrition to give him the energy and ability to concentrate in class and keep up with his day-to-day activities.

In a highly pressurized education system in Singapore, the days get busier and busier for our school-going children. They wake up early to go to school, and then, they go through their daily schedule that is filled with back-to-back activities.

E1

Children who are well-nourished are more likely to be attentive in the class, have better vision and sleep quality, as well as stronger mental clarity. Thus, it contributes to their overall well-being and helps them to grow up to their full potential and healthy life.

Now, all of us know the importance of nutrition. How can we ensure that our children are getting enough nutrition? Eat a variety of food, choose diet with plenty of grain products, vegetables and fruits, avoid food that is high in salt and added sugar, check the food pyramid, and so on.

It may sound easy, but if you have a picky eater at home, you’re bound to be challenged with food battle every day. It’s no fun at all seriously. Especially for a working mother like me, I don’t want to come home everyday to face with a food battle or vex over his nutrition issues.

E3

Recently, I was introduced to Power Up! 100% Pure Chicken Goodness by Eu Yan Sang. I’m sure all of you know Eu Yan Sang. With a heritage of 135 years, Eu Yan Sang is a leading brand in health and wellness, with an established reputation in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Truth be told, I’ve been a loyal customer of Eu Yan Sang for many years. Some of my favourite products include Essence of Chicken, Bird’s Nest and Manuka Honey. When I found that Eu Yan Sang has recently formulated a new Essence of Chicken for kids, I was jumping with joy because I wanted so much to give my son the same nutritional benefits that I’ve had with Eu Yan Sang.

E2

Power Up! 100% Pure Chicken Goodness is made with natural herbs used in TCM which are blended with cutting-edge food technology to help kids’ metabolism and growth, as well as to prevent common problems such as loss of appetite, lethargy and inability to focus in class.

Power Up! is also packed with high quality proteins made with 100% premium-grade Essence of Chicken and the finest TCM ingredients to help boost kids’ appetite, improve eye-sight and enhance sleep.

Most importantly, I like the fact that it is 100% free from caramel colouring, added flavouring, preservatives, fat and cholesterol. That is why Power Up! is safe for kids as young as two years old. It’s also voted as the “Best in Natural Health Tonic 2014” by Parents World magazine.

“Power Up! is the first and only Essence of Chicken in the market formulated for kids that is caramel-free.”

My Review

E4

Edison has been taking Power Up! for the last two weeks. He drinks one bottle at night every alternate day. I warm it with hot water before serving it to him, and he simply loves its taste. It tastes like concentrated chicken soup, so delicious with a mild herbal taste.

Even a picky eater like him loves the taste of Power Up! I’m completely speechless. His appetite has noticeably improved after consuming Power Up! Appetite for two consecutive weeks. And I’m delighted to see that there’s an overall improvement in well-being and concentration too.

As a mother, I feel a lot better knowing that he’s getting the nutritional benefits from Essence of Chicken to keep his growing body stronger and healthier each day. This hassle-free tonic also saves me a lot of time and energy as I don’t need to double-boil it myself.

So, I’ve learnt that while I try my best to give him a diet that is as balanced as possible, I can also boost it up with Power Up! 100% Pure Chicken Goodness. Nothing is more important than our children’s health, and one of the keys to good health is to EAT RIGHT.

Conquer the day with MILO

Getting children to eat breakfast is part of the morning challenge that many parents face every day. Have you ever wondered why breakfast is important, and why it is worth the struggle?

Well, imagine our body is like a car. After a long night of sleeping, our fuel tank is running low. Breakfast is the fuel that starts our engines and gets us going in the morning.

Especially for our school-going children, their days get busier and busier. They wake up early to go to school, and then, they go through their daily schedule that is filled with back-to-back activities. Thus, breakfast gives them the much-needed nutrition to conquer their days.

Children who take breakfast are more attentive in the class, better behaved, and have good concentration. Thus, it helps them in their learning process in school. On the other hand, those who skip breakfast are less energetic and remain inactive in the class. As a result, they face difficulties in learning.

Since Edison started Primary One this year, my biggest mission is to ensure that he has a nutritious breakfast to help him stay on top of his day. A few readers wrote to me for some breakfast ideas and tips in getting the kids to eat breakfast.

M7

So, I shared with them these quick breakfasts that can be prepared within 5 minutes. They’re also easy to grab on the way out the door, or can be prepared the night before.

  1. single serving of whole-grain, low-sugar cereal
  2. a muffin or croissant
  3. one slice of bread with peanut butter and cheese
  4. French toast
  5. a sandwich
  6. biscuits
  7. eggs

with a cup of MILO as part of a nutritious breakfast (most important!)

M8

M3

Every morning is a rush and I’m so glad MILO comes to my rescue. It’s so easy to prepare! Just empty the 3-in-1 sachet into a cup, add hot water, and voila, a nutritious cup of MILO is ready for consumption.

MILO is a nutritious chocolate malt beverage made from the natural goodness of malt, milk and cocoa. It contains PROTOMALT – a unique malt extract that gives us energy to go further. MILO also contains a combination of B Vitamins and Magnesium to aid in the release of energy from food.

MILO contains calcium too, to help build strong bones and teeth. From children to the elderly, everyone needs calcium to build strong bones and to keep them strong. That is why MILO is loved by generations, not only for its great taste, but also for its nutritional benefits.

M5

In 2006, MILO attained the Healthier Choice status from Health Promotion Board. As Singapore’s No. 1 favourite energy drink, more than one million cups of MILO are distributed free to Singaporeans annually through various sports and community events.

I can’t emphasize how busy children these days are. Their schedule can be as filled as an adult. Long school hours coupled with after school extra-curricular activities, and then, there are tuition classes and weekly sports activities.

How do we ensure that our children have the abundance of energy to keep them going?

M4

That’s why MILO ready-to-drink beverage is my staple! Even when we’re constantly on the go, Edison can enjoy his MILO to give him the physical energy and nutrition. MILO is not just nutritious, but it’s delicious too!

Truth be told, my relationship with MILO started more than 30 years ago when I was a kid. I always remember how my mom made me a cup of MILO and I would definitely drink it before I went to school. Thus, I want to give my son the same nutritional goodness that I’ve had before.

That’s how MILO has become part of my life until now. Even as an adult, I’m still drinking MILO for breakfast every morning. In between work, chauffeuring him to school and lessons, and juggling other motherhood duties, MILO is my energy booster!

It’s no secret that I’m a MILO lover, and I would drink it all day and night if I could. My personal favourite is the 3-in-1 Less Sugar variant.

M6

Anytime and anywhere is just how great this beverage is!

MILO – Singapore’s Favourite Energy Drink

Being a Singaporean, I’m very sure you’ve drank MILO before. As Singapore’s favourite energy drink, you can find MILO in almost all food establishments in the country. The many variations in the drink itself, from MILO Dinosaur to MILO Godzilla, Neslo and Hot MILO, is a proof of its popularity among the locals.

My relationship with MILO started more than 30 years ago when I was a kid. My mom introduced MILO to me, and I can always remember it as the drink that will make me feel warm and loved. Every morning, I had a big cup of warm MILO that was specially prepared by my mom before I went to school. Get the best start to your day with MILO, that’s what my mom always said. And that’s how MILO has become part of my life until now.

5 Good Reasons (FB)

There are FIVE good reasons to drink Milo. First of all, MILO is a nutritious chocolate malt beverage made from the natural goodness of malt, milk and cocoa. First sold in the 1936 and locally produced since 1984, MILO contains PROTOMALT® a unique malt extract giving us energy to go further.

MILO also contains a combination of B Vitamins and Magnesium to aid in the release of energy from food. It builds strong bones and teeth with calcium. From children to the elderly, everyone needs calcium to build strong bones and to keep them strong. That is why MILO is loved by generations, not only for its great taste, but also for its nutritional and health benefits.

MILO 1

Now, let me ask you a question. Do you know why breakfast is so important especially for children? I’ll tell you why.

In the morning, both our body and mind need sufficient energy to function properly. This energy is provided by our breakfast, of course. During the sleeping time, we’re not eating anything. Therefore, the energy reserves in our body are substantially low after we wake up.

As its name suggests, breakfast is the meal for breaking the fast for the day. Thus, it is one of the most important meals of the day. Importance of breakfast for children is because it gives them the much-needed nutrition and energy after a gap of ten to twelve hours when they are asleep.

School-going children who take breakfast before going to school are more attentive in the class and have better concentration. Thus, it helps them in their learning process in school. On the other hand, those who skip breakfast are less energetic and remain inactive in the class. As a result, they face difficulties in learning new things.

Now that we recognized the importance of breakfast, we also realized that breakfast is one of the most difficult meals of the day due to the morning rush hours. It’s often a challenge to wake the children up early for breakfast before rushing off to school.

I always remember what my mom did before I went to school in the morning. She made a warm cup of MILO for me and I would definitely drink it before I went to school. Thus, I want to give my son the same nutritional goodness that I’ve had before.

MILO 3

MILO played a big part in my growing years, and now it does the same for my son. Every morning, I will prepare breakfast with a warm cup of MILO for Edison. He will definitely finish the whole cup before he goes to school. In the event that we’re late, I will pack the breakfast so that he can have it in the car when we’re travelling to school.

MILO warms our tummy during breakfast, and it always perfectly complements our breakfast. In the afternoon, we will have iced MILO with cookies or sandwiches. Occasionally, I will make Neslo – a mix of Nescafe and MILO for tea break. Anytime and anywhere is just how great this beverage is. I’m sure you’ll agree.

MILO 2

Last but not least, nothing beats the rich chocolate malt taste of MILO in bringing back all my wonderful childhood memories. Even as a mom now, a warm cup of MILO will always soothe my troubled heart as what my mother used to comfort me and assure me that all would be well.

Now that I have a family of my own, I still turn to the chocolate malt goodness of MILO to make our bonding moments more heart warming. Hopefully when my son grows up, he will also cherish all the wonderful moments we’ve shared over cups of MILO.

Before I end this post, I’d like to invite you to watch these videos from MILO. Some of them are pretty good, and this is my favourite. It’s so touching that I feel like crying after watching it.

What’s in a nutritious cup of MILO?

Why kids love MILO for breakfast?

Kids’ Nutrition: The Brain Food

Milk for ChildrenWe are often concerned about the amount of food that our toddlers are eating. But how many of us really consider the quality of their food? Don’t worry if you are not, it’s never too late to look into it now.

Many nutritionists believe that the food that we eat directly affect the way our brain performs, sharpen our memory and boost our IQ. They have a significant effect on how our children develop and grow.

In order to raise smart kids, we must feed them with the right food. These are some of the super charged brain food which should be part of our children’s diet.

1. Anti-oxidants rich food – dry nuts, beans, berries and colorful vegetables
Natural anti-oxidants protect the membranes of brain cells against free radicals. Macadamia and almonds are recommended but not ground peanuts as they often result in allergic reactions.

2. Omega-3 fatty acids fish, olive oil and avocado
Omega-3 fatty acids are the most important and critical feed ingredients that can help boost brain and cognitive development in our children. These fatty acids are found in cold water fishes like salmon and tuna, and in plant materials like avocado, flaxseed oils and nuts like almonds and walnuts.

3. Whole grains whole wheat bread
Whole grains are known to improve memory functions in growing children. They contain a large amount of Vitamin B that can help enhance memory retention and recall abilities in children.

4. Iron rich food lean meat, whole wheat and almonds
Iron rich foods can help improve mental alertness and enhance energy levels in our children. Lean meat, red meat, sea foods, clams, whole wheat, dried cherries, golden raisins and almonds are rich sources of iron.

5. Eggs
Egg yolks have a high amount of choline – a nutrient in the B vitamin family – which helps in memory development. The best way to eat is soft boiled. Frying or hard boiled will destroy its protein.

6. Yogurt
This semi-solid food is a good source of protein, B and D vitamins for growing children. It is vital for the growth of brain tissue and neuro-transmitters.

7. Water
Drinking water is a very good habit and it can help retain concentration and motivation levels.

Kids – they are what they eat. Let’s add these brain foods into their diet that will benefit them through life!
