Sanrio Hello Kitty Town & Thomas Town at Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park

Indoor theme park is always a good idea when you want your kids to have fun, but not under the hot sun. Am I right? Recently, we made an impromptu trip to Puteri Harbour (our last visit was in 2015!). Considering the very hot weather lately, we chose Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and Thomas Town over LEGOLAND this time.

Before I booked the tickets, V asked me a question. “Is Edison too old for indoor theme park?” Well, errrr, seriously is there an age limit for indoor theme park? Come to think of it, he hasn’t been to one except for KidZania for the past 1+ years.

So, I asked him. 😊

His face instantly lightened up when I said Hello Kitty. As some of you may be aware, he likes Hello Kitty – pretty much influenced by me! This time, I was planning to check-out the new Hello Kitty themed room at Hotel Jen too. So, imagine his excitement when it comes to a weekend of PLAY and HOTEL STAY with zero homework LOL.

He loves Hello Kitty and is totally COOL about it! LOL.

Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park is a four-storey building that resembles a shopping mall. It houses Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and Thomas Town. The first storey is accessible to all visitors – you can dine at Red Bow Café, shop for your favourite cartoon characters’ merchandises and purchase your tickets.

Sanrio Hello Kitty Town is located on the second storey. The moment we stepped out of the escalator, we were wowed by the striking pink and awesome cuteness that screamed “check me out now!”. Haha!

Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour Review: A Fantastic Weekend Getaway

Even though Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park is just a short drive from Singapore, I’d recommend that you stay at Hotel Jen. Reason is simple – after one day of fun-filled and energy-draining activities, driving back home is tiring. Secondly, topping up the theme park with a hotel stay will certainly add excitement to your kids.

Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour is located right next to Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park (read our review on Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park HERE). Do you know that Hotel Jen is the newest hotel brand in the Shangri-La Group? I must preface this review by admitting that I’m biased to Shangri-La Hotel Group and the high level of service and quality that it consistently delivers worldwide.

Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour Review

Our stay at Hotel Jen was no different from our previous stays at other Shangri-La hotels. The hotel’s excellent service started from the very beginning – the check-in process was swift and speedy, and the hotel staffs are helpful and friendly.

Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour

The hotel lobby emanates style and modernity, with spacious seating area, iMac workstations, secured handphone charging station and welcome drinks. The hotel also provides free basement parking and free scheduled shuttle to Legoland.

This is our Deluxe Harbour View Room. It’s reasonably-sized with a plush queen-sized bed and sofa bed that accommodates 3 of us comfortably, and also complete with coffee station, mini bar, steam iron, fridge, 40” LED TV, cable TV, WIFI and executive writing desk.

What I like best is the beautiful scenic view of the harbour. I like the natural light with warm and cozy colour tone of the room.

The highlight of this hotel has to be its outdoor rooftop swimming pool with sundeck. It has an infinity pool that you can see all the way to Singapore, a children’s pool and a Jacuzzi salt water pool – which is great for skin! Guests can also indulge in fully-equipped gym, steam bath and body massage. There is also a SkyBar at the pool deck.

After a relaxing swim and steam, we were all ready to enjoy our buffet dinner at Harbour Café. As a hotel guest, we were entitled to a special discounted rate of RM80 per adult and RM40 per child (nett) for the International Buffet. It’s really value-for-money for such an impressive spread.

Obviously, I couldn’t taste all the food – even though I wish I could. So, I only took pictures of those that caught my eyes, but there were plenty more that the restaurant has generously offered for its international buffet.

The seafood station is our favourite. We loved the sweet and succulent prawns, as well as flower crabs. We also indulged in fresh sashimi to our hearts’ content. On top of that, there is an Indian section serving authentic Indian cuisines, Chinese section with delicious herbal stew and soup, spicy curry me (must try!), dim sum, pasta, sushi, chocolate fountain, wide spread of cakes and desserts, salad, fruits, juices, and many more!

After a satisfying dinner, we took a stroll at the harbour. It was surrounded by alfresco restaurants and beautifully-landscaped walkways.

Just a short walk from the hotel, there are also retail outlets such as Toys R Us, and also family restaurants such as Kenny Rogers and Sushi King.

Great food, great fun, comfy bed and salt water pool certainly completes our day at Hotel Jen. Does that warrant a trip back any time soon? Certainly YES! It’s a perfect place for me to unwind. Our boy has already sealed a deal with us to come back during the December holiday. =)

Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park: Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and The Little Big Club

Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park has been on my list for a long time, and I’m glad that we finally checked it out. Just over the border in Nusajaya Johor, this popular family theme park houses two international attractions: Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and The Little Big Club. Opened in late Oct 2012, it has surpassed the half a million mark on its first anniversary.

What I love most about this theme park is that it’s completely indoor and air-conditioned. Heat? Haze? Rain? I’m not worried.

The theme park is a four-storey building that resembles a shopping mall. The first storey is accessible to everyone (even without the entrance ticket). You can dine at Red Bow Café and shop for cartoon characters merchandises such as Hello Kitty, Pingu, Barney, Bob the Builder, Angelina Ballerina and Thomas the Tank Engine. You can also purchase your entrance tickets at the ticketing counters here.

There is an escalator that brings you to the second storey where the Sanrio Hello Kitty Town is located (entrance ticket is needed from this point). Being a huge Hello Kitty fan, the moment I stepped into it, the awesome cuteness totally screamed for my attention.

To me, I find that the main attraction here is the Kitty’s House. As its name suggests, this is Hello Kitty’s house. It’s divided into six sections, and each of them is so beautifully decorated. I simply love the attention to details and exquisite design of the house.

Edison is also a huge fan of Hello Kitty, although he feels a bit embarrassed to admit. He enjoys photo-taking with Hello Kitty and Friends at the Dream Photo Garden. It’s not often to see him excited about photo-taking these days, so this is certainly a rare opportunity!

We love Hello Kitty and Friends stage performance too. It’s a fun musical performance that keeps the audience happy and entertained. Edison also enjoyed the Hello Kitty cookie decorating at Wishful Studio. Each participant is given a plain Hello Kitty cookie and items to decorate the cookie. And of course, they can choose to eat or keep the cookies after that.

Other attractions include Black Wonder – an interactive experience where children can help to find Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel who have been kidnapped, tea cup ride, indoor playground, and Cinnamoroll Café.

Indoor Playground at Sanrio Hello Kitty Town

The Little Big Club

The Little Big Club is bigger than Sanrio Hello Kitty Town as it comprises two storeys. The third storey is given over to Pingu, Barney, Bob the Builder and Angelina Ballerina themed activities, while the fourth storey is totally devoted to Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends.

Pingu's Igloo

Over at the third storey, you can find Pingu’s Igloo (houses different kinds of arcade machines such as basketball, air-hockey, mole-whacking, etc), Angelina’s Dance Studio (where girls can put on a pink tutu and dance with Angelina Ballerina), Barney’s Playhouse (a huge indoor playground with mild climbing structures and slides), and Bob the Builder Play Structure.

Barney's Playhouse

There are also stage performances and meet-and-greet sessions with the Little Big Club characters.

Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends at the fourth storey is Edison’s favourite! All the rides are Thomas-themed, making them truly unique as compared to the ordinary kiddy rides that most of us have seen in other theme parks.

Edison enjoyed the bumper car the most. The movement and steering were so smooth, thus he could handle the bumper car so effortlessly by himself.

He also loves the Knapford Station Thomas Train Ride, Colin Crane Drop Ride, Harold Helicopter Ride, and Bertie the Bus Ride. On top of these awesome rides, the Sodor Playground is certainly not to be missed too. There are many climbing structures, slides and even trains that double up as tunnels where kids can crawl through.

Parents can find their “me time” at the lounge area with TV, comfy sofas and massage chairs, while their kids are enjoying themselves.

All in all, I highly recommend Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park if you’ve young children below the age of 12. It’s indoor and air-conditioned, so your day is guaranteed to be cool and comfortable. The theme park is not very big, you can cover both Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and The Little Big Club within a day – and still have plenty of leisure time to dine at the themed cafes and shop. Plus, this theme park is spanking new, very clean and well-maintained with friendly staffs too.
