Civil Service Club Changi – A Great Place for Family Staycation

Recently, we booked a Family Suite at Civil Service Club Changi to celebrate Edison’s 8th birthday. We were amazed with the newly refurbished Changi Clubhouse, and all my guests (including me, of course!) agreed that it’s a great place for family staycation.

After being closed for two years for refurbishment and redevelopment works, Civil Service Club Changi reopened its door this May. We were pleasantly surprised by the huge difference the refurbishment has made! It has tripled in size, with 25 resort-style suites and villas, complete with modern recreational facilities that perfectly suits the lifestyle needs of its guests.

Before I bring you to CSC @ Changi, let’s take a minute to read my introduction of Civil Service Club in general. CSC has 3 clubhouses across the island – Tessonsohn, Bukit Batok and Changi, and each of them has their own unique features and facilities. CSC @ Changi is the only clubhouse that offers premium accommodation. It’s a seaside resort with a 5-storey sports complex – suitable for families and the ‘young at heart’.

CSC @ Bukit Batok is also a popular spot for families with its main attractions such as wave pool, slide tower, lazy river and cosy tree houses. The clubhouse has a rustic tropical feel with its woody and lush greenery. CSC @ Tessonsohn, on the other hand, is located on the fringe of the city centre. This urban clubhouse is popular for corporate events and social activities for different demographics.

Pretty much like a hotel, the suites and villas have WiFi, toiletries and towels. We stayed in a Family Suite that has two bedrooms, two toilets, a spacious living room, a dining hall, a kitchen complete with cooking utensils, microwave oven, induction cooker, DOLCE coffee machine, electric kettle, fridge, complimentary beverages, as well as a huge balcony that connects the living room and master bedroom.

The size of the Family Suite is like a 2-bedroom apartment. The living room and all bedrooms have LED TV with kids, movie and football channel too. “This is even better than our home!” Edison quipped as he danced around the suite in delight.

We invited our extended family members over to celebrate Edison’s birthday, and the Family Suite is spacious and comfortable for our entire family. The newly built contemporary suite has a beautiful sea view and landscaped garden view. They are also equipped with thoughtful amenities such as baby cots, high chairs and wheelchairs. It’s truly an enjoyable stay!

Activities

There are various activities to enjoy while staying at Changi Clubhouse. These are our favourites:

1. Organise a BBQ

The word “chalet” usually has us thinking of enjoying a barbeque with family and friends. We booked the rooftop BBQ pit, and it was the best decision ever! The rooftop BBQ area is clean and well-maintained with built-in wash basin, power points, fan and a BBQ grill. It’s overlooking the sea so we enjoyed our BBQ with a great view, plus it was windy too!

2. Score a strike at the Resort Bowl

CSC @ Changi has a 20-lane cosmic bowling centre that features a unique glow-in-the-dark bowling experience for private functions and DJs spinning music on weekends that you should check out.

3. Tantalise our taste buds with the famous Changi Village nasi lemak

Changi Village Market and Food Centre, specializes in nasi lemak, is just a few minutes’ walk from CSC @ Changi. Besides the famous nasi lemak, the food centre has a wide variety of local food to try out.

4. Relax at the Infinity Pool

CSC @ Changi has a mini infinity pool, a children’s play pool and a playground (that looks like a pirate ship). Other facilities in CSC @ Changi include KTV Lounge, full facility gym, Mahjong rooms, bike enthusiasts’ retail and spinning room, and tennis courts.

Dining

There are 4 restaurants and cafes at CSC @ Changi that serves Chinese cuisine, Western food as well as delicious local favourites.

All in all, we were very happy with our stay at Civil Service Club Changi Family Suite. I highly recommend it for family staycation, especially if you’ve a big group or multi-generation family.
